Cold Storage Minting thread attracted also SK, I'm against this idea but it's interesting how it'll evolve.

After ASIC has landed on litecoin territory I guess it's the end of POW alts. It's not interesting anymore preordering more rigs, joining the pools leading to centralization, changing algors, and starting over. Better stick with Bitcoin for mining, or switch to POS. Only raspberry pi powered by a phone charger is all it needs to mine or secure the network.

Just like Coblee said,
" We have not come across a proof of work algorithm that is truly ASIC-proof and quick to verify. All alternatives will only delay the problem, and at a considerable cost."

I really enjoy the chat between Sunny King (Peercoin) and Daniel Larimer (Bitshares). I read the chat live and read all texts again from the link.

It's great being given the chance to read a discussion between these two legends.

Here are some of the more important topics with Peercoin from the past week for those who are interested. If I have missed anything, please post it in the comments.

1. A new proposal for cold storage minting has been posted by sigmike. The idea is that it will first be tested for use in Peershares, and could then possibly be used in Peercoin if it was deemed suitable by the community.

2. There was a chat between Sunny King (Peercoin) and Daniel Larimer (Bitshares) this week in the PeercoinTalk chatbox. You can read the full transcript here.

3. You can now get tipped 10 PPC for setting up a Peercoin node on your Raspberry Pi! Find out more here.

4. A major evolution for Peer4Commit has been announced. A wide range of changes are planned involving control of the funds, handling more types of projects, and adding multiple currencies. It could even possibly be the first implementation of Peershares.

5. There have also been discussions on how the compensation method for PoS minting could theoretically be changed to increase the incentive.

Here is last week's review in case you missed it. Also consider visiting the PeercoinTalk forum to stay up to date with all Peercoin and Peershares development.
