Thanks. Yes, crosslinking between fiat, and, better yet, precious metals, is an eventual goal.

I'm thinking of maybe an open source, publicly auditable vending machine design which can dispense gold and silver coins in exchange for digital warehouse receipts purchased with Bitcoin. The vending machines could be located in places like Dubai where such machines already exist. The digital receipts can circulate, be split, and combined as a cryptocurrency, backed and always exchangeable for physical metal at a vending machine.

The real obstacle to viability is unfortunately the fiat component.  Your idea nonetheless seems very sound.

The following is an outline to develop a Free and Open Source, Unhosted, Serverless, P2P Trading System. Please let me know of any suggestions.

I am deciding on whether to offer a bounty or outsource the coding. I have reviewed everything I could find on the forum regarding decentralized p2p exchanges before posting, but may have missed something.

Marketcoin and Bitshares appear to be the closest to what I describe below.
