Pretty much what Lauda said, I remember awhile back there was an absolute wave of spammers trying to target old posts to bump and make it look like they were just contributing to the discussion but they were giving such generic responses it was easy to tell them apart. If they're just generic "Yes, I agree" posts and so on you can just report them, they add nothing to the discussion I think that some people even try to make more convincing posts too but they abuse it too much and you get several topics from a few months back being bumped up and it's really obvious what they're doing so I just report them after that.

You don't need to worry about getting people like this banned, they're just obnoxious spammers trying to fake being real members. I think there are also certain users who are trying to make generic topics about what sort of food people like and so on in off topic but really with that kind of thing you can only wait and see how far they push their luck.
It really depends on the situation. If they bring up a old one but make a relevant and really constructive post the it is okay. However, if they dig it up without a good reason it is likely going to be deleted.

I see. Thanks! I know a forum where these kinds of people gets warning for such action so I was wondering if this is tolerated in here. I just don't like seeing those kind of people, doesn't even make sense.

Anyway, I'll be locking the thread now. I finally got the answer to my question so yea.

regards!

If you could include the thread he posted so we could evaluate better then answer would be clearer for everyone as I believe there are some criteria that could be allowed like for instance if the thread is some kind of service that was offered by someone who has been a while with any activity and the guy is looking for the services and also the post himself is dependent upon being considered constructive in this matter

I lost the link somewhere. I believe there has no conversation in it. It was from Nov. 2014. He just bumped the old thread where no one really talks about anymore.

Bringing those old thread back to life is better than creating a new one with same thread title. It will also prevent those who replied already on the old thread to post almost same reply on the new thread.

I have often posted in threads that are very old and which kinda of went out of fashion, so my posts serve as a bump to bring them back alive. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.12573350 call it a crappy post, but we had 1 more page of discussion after that.

I saw some guys posting in a very old thread, more likely from 3 months old to a year old threads.

I wouldn't consider 3 months that old, especially if its on the same topic and there isn't anther suitable thread.

I'd also like to see some examples...

Sometimes, i could consider it usefull... Sometimes it's an accident (for example: if somebody already logged in found an old tread trough google, and commented without looking at the date of the OP), sometimes its just spamming...

But i think it needs case-by-case and user-by-user judgement, not a general rule.

The best solution would be if moderators just locks the old threads it will automatically prevent newbees from posting in old threads otherwise if you just ban one member then other will post and how long can you report all the users.

So today I was browsing again through the forum and I saw some guys posting in a very old thread, more likely from 3 months old to a year old threads.

Are these kind of posts allowed in here?
Is it a valid reason to report the person who posted it?
Are these kind of posts still considered as constructive for those who are in signature campaigns?
