It would be too early for people to think of getting a pHD in blockchain. But it would be possible, they should focus on getting a pHD related to cryptography not particularly related to the blockchain itself as we all know, blockchain's foundation is the encryption of cryptographic data. In this regard, it could definitely lead them to understanding what blockchain is, and to develop a blockchain project that could definitely provide better projects to the people.

I think better to focus on programing language.Because there is no University in India there you can complete you PHD in blockchain.IF you apply for PhD in EU or US country it will be tough to get admission,if you get admission in University maybe embassy will reject for visa. So,better to to complete you PhD in any programing language. It’s my personal opinion. Thanks

there are some university in NEw york which have started masters degree. and there is a university in Cyprus which provides an online masters for crypto currency. they are providing the introduction course for free irrespective you enrol in masters or not.

You can research on algorithms they use and take up the subject as your phd program. there is a indian origin professor in a university in USA(i dont rememebr which) but you can find his details from a term paper writing service course he is providing in coursera. You can contact him and find out if he can admit you as his student for phd. if they dont allow crypto currency as a subject, you can take the underlying topics in crypto like cloud encryptions(used for online wallets) etc.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, New York University and Cornell University are the top three universities that offer courses and majors in blockchain technology (New York University was the first one to do that last year). But Curtin University is now one of the most discussed Australian universities, cause it has created a PhD scholarship program which is funded by cryptocurrency. Coursera and edX give the basics, but it's not enough to write an academic research. I chose Stern School of Business (New York University) and I'm glad I made that choice.

This is useful, can you please mention the link, I could not find it.

This is what I would suggest to the OP, take a look at some online courses if available, and then build your interest towards what you seem better for you and then you can enroll yourself in that major.

https://www.coursera.org/learn/cryptocurrency  taught by https://www.coursera.org/instructor/anarayanan

for the online degree i told. it is in Cyprus. https://digitalcurrency.unic.ac.cy/

I'm a Post Graduate Computer Engineering Student in India. I'm learning things about blockchain, and wish to do PhD in a topic involving Blockchain. Although, given the rate at which things are evolving, I'm not able to choose the topic in this fast changing technology. Do you have any suggestions?

I think bitcoin and blockchain technology is one thing is not been making money in the name of education. If PhD in blockchain and all really a shit thought according to me. If you want to learn about blockchain do a own research in Youtube and Google articles which can more information.
Here everyone wants to make money with the virtual currencies so no one will give all the information where you will be able to learn completely about its technology. Since you find the many cloned coins here but nothing can be compare with the bitcoin.

Ah! Great someone from India is enthusiastic about the whole blockchain thing. I really appreciate your efforts and if you work on this thing pretty well then you will be granted with great success. I think there is wide variety of subjects or topics you can choose from.

If you are coder basically then you can workout the math on faster transaction or may be how to put the blockchain size to higher dimensions. What I mean by that is you can try to code it in a way so that the size issues will be vanished forever and we can have faster transaction with it.

Also try to grab lesson which will teach us on how to implement this tech over smartphone, digital boards etc which are trendy now a days.

I’m just telling in non technical way as I’m not related with the field of yours. But you always get the idea from the people who use that technology superficially. :-)

If I were to be someone who is a computer scientist or technology savvy, I would have love to know more about the blockchain even up to PhD level and that is the point where the real change can happen in my opinion beyond the buying and selling, increase in price, pump and dump, ban and unban happening around this crypto world.

I would suggest looking at how the blockchain technology could be deployed in the area of free and fair elections. All over the world where democracy is being practiced, there are issues concerning electoral malpractices which I believe the blockchain can do something about but how to go about it is what I don't know.

Yes, I think it's a good idea as you are a Computer Engineering Student in India, but you should learn more about blockchain, and have the sufficient informations to do your PhD, I hope that you do that very well in this topic of the new technology.

Getting your Ph.D. on Blockchain related papers or whatnot, writing your thesis on the Blockchain is a sure way to impress your professors. This is a hot industry and people all over the world are developing it as we speak. Just imagine how impressed your school would be to have an expert on Blockchain graduate from their school compared to some general field which is not as important in today's economic landscape...

I know nothing about blockchain but I don't know when someone talks about it I just include Bitcoin in it and then involve in that communication. It kinda sounds cool to talk about technical stuffs and even using some terms which makes the person feel that we have alot of knowledge or something . Ignoring the fact that we , ourselves would know what actually that term means.

I think in India it will take certain time to get any content or syllabus to be publish to learn in academic sources. As for now I have few of my friends in India. They still even don't know Bitcoin, SO thinking about blockchain is far away. Even one of friend reply me they don'y have any subject or topic about blockchain in syllabus.

Doing own R & D and using own intelligence can give you more confident and comfort with bitcoin and bitcoin environment, to learn more about it.

Doing PhD or taking any certificate as like hanging tie in own neck, which is not really necessary. I don't recommending even not suggesting. Just spend time to understand yourself.

I guess you would benefit more in additional learning about programming since bitcoins complex system is primarily a program.
