@ Op please lock the thread.

I do not think it is a good idea as a lot of people have done a lot to help miners on the site.

I am not looking for people to feel short changed.

If you compare Claymore  to _ck and Kano we should run a tip thread for the two of them as they were ripped much coin  just think if cgminer had paid them 2% since they wrote it.

i've sent phil some of my stuff at my own will.

he is a nice guy & he is willing to contribute his shares to the community.

if 1 wants/needs to donate they will do it in their own free will.

imo, phil is a financially dependent person with more rigs growing & making some profits out of it so let it be a own free will if 1 wants to donate or not.

i think there is no need for a "donation" thread for phil * sorry phil * i don't mean anything bad just my straight up opinion.

if phil needs help, i think he will voice out & many here will be willing to do so.

no escrow needed. let phil decide on his own & the donors at their own free will a thread like this is not needed imho.

oh i have no doubt phil has helped more than most here and deserves all the tips he can get. he sends extra stuff when buying items from him, sends free items to help miners, all that, plus his wealth of knowledge he freely shares.

just never seen anything like this before.

i guess i just expect more people to tip him without having to be prompted.

i keep forgetting what forum im on i guess Sad

it's a public display of appreciation and donation. a whip round for a jolly good fellow with a big birthday this year.

there's a link in the op where Philip mentions not getting many donations, not that that is why he's helping people.

there's no set amount - send what you like

why would we need escrow? seems needlessly complicated.

phils addy is public in his profile: 1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje <- feel free to verify.

ive donated to many people here, they know who they are. i expect nothing in return either. its a donation.

if you want to donate to him, just do it directly to his address. send a pm so he knows what it is for.

just my opinion of course.

phil, sorry if i stepped on your toes so to speak. none of my business really. just the whole set amount and escrow bit seems odd to me.

i will delete this post if you like.

All right enough with the off topic and sour grapes.
Yes others deserve credit. Go and make threads about them.
This thread is about Philip. Not you.
You're a friendly person! Cheers! Nice to meet you too..

You realize this is a mining forum? Not a crowdfunding one..

Lets talk in a few weeks, after you gathered those 100 BTC..  Roll Eyes

Wow you came up with that method for copying straps? thats so cool, i use that and I didn't even know i should have been thanking you. So thank you for helping me and the community! Smiley

I didn't technically invent it, well, i'm not sure, maybe someone before me already did this, probably.. not sure.. Smiley.

Before Polaris (RX**), i did this on my Tonga(380) cards as well because i noticed that in The Stilt his custom straps he did for his mining roms (Hawaii (290's)) back in the scrypt mining days, he tightened those timings with already custom timings. I figured i can just copy the tighter ones up and it will run faster. And hey, they did!

Now with Polaris on the other hand, the speed difference was so significant that i decided to share it.

Greetings!

This is all nice and all, but there are SO many others out there that deserve a shitload of credit/donations as well.

I'll tell you why and give a few examples.

There are many others that have written free software for everyone to use and to benefit from and they have gotten almost nothing in fee's/donations in return. (sgminer(original dev stopped working on it (afaik), ccminer, silentarmy(stopped it because of the same reasons, etc...)

Those guys mostly do this outside of their full-time working hours. In other words, they offer up their free time to do this as well.

They don't have 10k plus posts because they don't have time to constantly browse the forums or to write posts.
They spend that little bit of free time they have on software that benefits the entire mining community.

Again, they deserve the credit they do and never get.

It's all a bit more on the side now because of software like Claymore (everyone uses it and he gets paid royally for it).

I shared my Nano roms a long time ago, a lot of "thank you's", which i appreciate a lot, but those don't pay my bills.

Then i shared the copy-strap method --> http://cryptomining-blog.com/8228-modify-the-bios-of-reference-radeon-rx-480-for-faster-ethereum-hashrate/
a year ago. Almost every single AMD card owner is using that.
I know, eventually someone else would have figured this out and it would have been out there anyway, but still...

I don't think i ever got a thank you for that.

Therefore, i have started to charge for custom vbios work a while ago as well, because i figured, i'm not going to do this again, share faster straps, and have an exploded inbox of questions..
Nah, sorry.

It's a human thing. Grab/take profit as much as possible and be greedy while you're at it..

I even now get an avarage of 20PM's per day. Yeah, only here.... Around 30 on Ethereum forums and i'm not going to list the other forums..
Takes a shitload of time to answer all of them, i still answer them all though Smiley

Anyhow. Again, very nice and all, but think about the others out there as well.

Oh, just to be clear, this is not a post of me secretely asking for donations. Smiley

Ah that's fantastic. Thank you, Dabs. And no fee if we don't raise much. Brilliant!
Many thanks also to our fourth party, Quickseller, for verifying.

Now everyone dig deep.

If we raise a mere 100btc, Philip gets 99btc and can retire if he wants, and Dabs can bet 1btc on some ghastly altcoin, hoping for a moonshot.

I see we have already found around $80 at today's rates - enough for a nice bottle of 30 yr old Port https://www.majestic.co.uk/Sandeman-30-Year-Old-Tawny-Port-zid16005

bet that tx with a frankly rather low fee will go through next time viaBTC finds a block. ahem.

"Specially selected Ports are chosen for ageing in wooden casks with gradual exposure to air, concentrating the flavours and maturing the ruby colours to a golden amber colour. Intense aromas of honey and spices with deep flavours of dried apricots, hazelnuts and vanilla."

philipma1957 https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/philipma1957-64507 is such a great member

runs threads to help people mine https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/fourth-alt-coin-thread-last-three-got-oversized-1877588

runs contests when time etc permits https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/a-diff-contest-picks-are-closed-15-ltc-prize-with-a-sidehack-compac-1972166

But https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.19607191

people, we are not sending him enough tips. not that he asks, not that that is why he helps people.

we are sending him too many pm's (see last link) - don't do that, please ask in the threads.

this shares the knowledge. don't be embarassed for noobish questions or secretive about your Mh/s mines. share in the threads, guys.

The fabulous Dabs https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/dabs-54791 has kindly agreed to escrow this whip-round at his standard fee. He will post the address for all donations shortly.

to be decided in consultation with escrow, philip, me and you: I suggest we promote this idea for 6 weeks, keep an eye on the running total, and aim to raise enough for a case of decent vino and/or a nice gpu, whatever they cost nowadays, then have an official handing over of the escrowed amount.

so please dig out your wallets and send in the tips. quote the tx if you want and/or reply with your appreciation if you want.

in these days of still quite high fees, it's probably best to send at least BTC0.01 to make an impact.

How little is that, though? One day's farming on a medium-sized rig, that's how little. And how much has philipma1957 helped you?
