President Duterte is truly amazing, he's not just focusing in problem, he's focusing at solutions. He will slowly kill everything that is illegal and step by step the Philippines will be not just drug free but free from all illegal doings.

That will make him a dictator. Look at history. Dictators never stayed in power forever. They were overthrown in due course of time, after the people get tired of their antics. The same will happen with Duterte.

Are you saying that Duterte will become a dictator for getting rid of drugs and illegal
gambling in his country?

No. I am saying that Rodrigo Duterte becomes a dictator for murdering more than 6,000 people (including perhaps a few thousand innocent civilians who had nothing to do with drugs).

I hope soon there will be a war against idiocy.

War against gambling... nice success with the war on drugs lol

As I've said, this will be again an unfinished one, he is just shifting from one problem to another, and if he sees people wants to solve one problem, he jumped into it and started to sensationalized everything, in short, he is just riding with the situation.

Btw i heard ex davao police officers are now giving testimony how duterte murdered people in davao.

Yes, that's true, a local police officer who first denied what the previous witness said is now confirming it, and I think that he is much more credible one compared to the previous...

But of course, I heard also that his spokesman said that all the media that was there was paid with $1000 each....  Cheesy

Are you saying that Duterte will become a dictator for getting rid of drugs and illegal
gambling in his country? Let's define first what a dictator is.

"a ruler with total power over a country, typically one who has obtained power by force."

Hmmm, I think he was voted 95% in the Philippines if I'm not mistaken. He didn't take
power by force. He won the Presidential election. With that said, I don't think Duterte
will become a dictator or is considered a dictator. He just want to clean up his country
of all the corruptions, drugs and gambling. But if ever he become a dictator by declaring
Martial Law is yet to seen so we should not just jump into conclusion here.

You are of course right, but imagine how many people will die before that happens. It seems to me that any dictatorship is easier to prevent than to fight for their freedom. In any case, people are to blame that lead to power of dictators.

I personally feel as if the ways the Filipino President is going to be fighting all of these injustices in socities are going to be frowned upon, but the thing is it's probably going to work. Some people may say that he can't kill his way into having a society where people follow all the laws, or most of them at least. Think of it like this, would you go ahead and sell drugs or gamble if you know you'd be tortured or shot instantly when you did this?

Link: http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/870892/dela-rosa-declares-war-on-illegal-gambling

"President Duterte has signed an executive order further regulating the issuance of gambling licenses – including those for online operations – and directing the Philippine National Police (PNP) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to go after gambling syndicates and unlicensed operators."

After its war on drugs, The Philippines is now going full swing on its anti-gambling campaign.
After being booted out from President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs, the Philippine National
Police (PNP) will now be entering a "war against illegal gambling."

What's your thoughts on this? Duterte really means business and he really wants to clean
his country.

While a war on drugs is understandable, I don't see a reason to declare a war on gambling, while gambling is not precisely the best way to spend your time and money, in itself is not a damaging activity like putting chemicals in your body.

Gambling is an evil thing, people will win once and get that high that they can win over and over. They will slowly spend all their money on gambling and never have a dollar for food again, in a poverty dominated place like the Philippines they can't allow that to happen at all.
I guess who will just have to wait and see how his campaign will go. But as far as I'm concern, this will be a Herculean task for Duterte's government. He can't control on-line gambling sites globally. I have nothing against his campaign to get rid of illegal gambling in his country but on-line gambling is a different thing. I don't know any country that is successful in getting rid of on-line gambling, AFAIK.

Is he trying to fight online gambling too? That seems like an insane task unless the people have servers in the Philippines.

Yeah, free from poor people. Most of them will be killed in the streets because of drug war, and some of them will be in jail because they are caught in illegal gambling even in their house. They should catch those big time gambling houses, and not those who are with their friends. I am afraid Philippines is again dictatorship with lots of blind followers.  Smiley

well you are right regarding to this, those who holds gambling are those who are in uniformed or in power from our country but we knew how our president seriously take when he said he wanted to push that rules even though we wont be affected that much since we are playing online and most of bitcoin gambling site is not regulated by phil. government.

Are you sure? I think he is not. He only can catch street dwellers who gamble... Look at the case of jack lam and the other one ( I forgot the name ) they are online gambling operators. Probably this war on illegal gambling is only present today because of jack lam, he is in the spotlight, so as the gambling, so the government wants to take advantage of this, they are good actors...  Smiley

I just don't know what they will do next after an SPO3 police in his hometown surfaces ( who previously denies matobato's testimonies, and now confirms it )... - Use Bato Dela rosa as a escape goat?  Cheesy

Actually the news doesn't have to worry us, who sometimes do gamble online, online gambling isn't included in what they are going to seize. They only seize those small time gamblers, who gamble with cents and can be seen on some streets and houses, those illegal fighting of cocks in the barrios, and those who only have siestas. But they do not care about those big time gambling syndicates.  Smiley

The large-scale gambling syndicates pay their protection money to the politicians. On the other hand, the small scale businesses pay protection money to the policemen. So it is clear why they are targeted.

Well, you have a point there. Sometimes the operator of this small time gambling places are sometimes member of the National Police... Or if not, they are a Village chieftain or member of the council....

Actually, there is a rule in local government in the Philippines that when a barrio fiesta is going to happen, as far as I remember, they have three months to held a local derby, they just need to produce necessary papers needed... My point is sometimes, there are illegal gambling ( if we consider local derby ) that exist during fiestas...  Cheesy

I don't know any country that is successful in getting rid of on-line gambling, AFAIK.

There are a lot of countries which permit online/offline gambling. So it is not possible to shut down these online gambling firms. Duterte can block these sites in Philippines, but anyone can open them using a VPN or a web proxy. And making payments has also become easier now, thanks to Bitcoin. The best solution would be to permit legal gambling.

Duterte is serious about his campaign but sad to say that there are many corrupt individuals in the government which will make the implementation very hard to do. This is also a move by the government to stop illegal gambling that destroys family and does not give something in return to society. This is just a move so that illegal gambling will stop and owners will register themselves under PAGCOR and follow the gambling rules and regulations so that tax revenues will not go just into the pocket of some individuals but to fund welfare services on the country.

There are laws that regulated gambling in the Philippines. I think Duterte's target in his campaign
is the illegal one, like jueteng, STL (small time lottery) and others. However, I think with this
campaign he will be targetting on-line gambling as well. If you would recall last year, he singled
out Ongpin, and according to Duterte, an oligarch, which prompted Mr. Ongpin to sell his stake to
protect the electronic gambling company (Philweb) and its workers. He said he owns 53.76 percent
of Manila-based PhilWeb, a supplier of electronic gambling software he founded in 2000.

I don't know what's his plan on those on-line gambling sites that is accessible thru the internet.
I think if will be very difficult to block those sites. It will take a lot of cooperation from different
service providers in the Philippines just to get those sites not accessible to the country. And Filipinos
will always find a way how to access those sites anyways so for me this will not be a successful
campaign. They should only targets those illegal juetengs, masiao, STL, pusoy and other forms of
illegal games.

Let me guess, this will turn out to be another unfinished business...  Smiley

He never ended war on drugs, as he promised in three months, six months, then stop as they say they have to reorganize, but the truth is, they can't stop it... Aside from that, he promised that he wants to end corruption, but still, unfinished...

And now, here we are, war on illegal gambling... The only gamblers that I know that they keep on catching where those drivers playing cara y cruz on their terminals, and those people playing inside the house...

What will he end next? drinking alcohol, and cigarette?   Cheesy

I think he is really desperate on cleaning his country. Or really he loves his country so much that he dont want to let any citizens of that country to be holding any drugs.
Signing a new executive order for drugs means that the tokhang (correct the spelling) is not successful finding new ways to stop the drug from spreading in the country. If this was signed by him before the extrajudicial killings, i think there will be no lives that will be in vain.
I think there will be a lot of drug users now are changing their lives but they are dead now. I think he is being hasty on his decisions, yes i understand that he is having a lot of problem regarding his country ( based on one of his interview in davaou) but he must really think what his people might say, being hasty as a leader is a danger to hes controlled people.

its just the illegal gambling. the legal ones can still operate freely.  if you are using bitcoin and doing it on directbet or any poker sites, the campaign would be useless still. what the president wants are for those illegal operators to comply.
It seems to me that Duterte not so much struggling with drugs and illegal gambling as creating the kind of intense activity. It's just cheap PR. You know the Olympic creed the important thing is not victory, the main participation.

He is sincere in cleaning the mess of the Philippines, he may not eradicate all at least people can see that the government is serious for having a big change in the country I hope that my countrymen could see this as a big opportunity for us and let us unite as one nation for a change for the future of our child and the coming generation.
Duterte making a big mistake. He fights against windmills like don Quixote. How many thousands of years trying to deal with prostitution and what? If the phenomenon can not be defeated it must lead.

And why is that? What mistake are you saying here? He is fighting illegal gambling which is rampant in his country. He may not totally eradicate it but at least somehow lessen those illegal bookies in his country.
How can you believe in such tales? What you do is stopping gambling? Well let Duterte shut down all gambling business, what's next? Now there are casinos on the Internet. Who played will continue to play without leaving home. What you will achieve?

I thought the same thing, anyone who has internet can gamble all day long. If they use bitcoin the government will not even know what is happening.

President Duterte will only eradicate illegal gambling, while the legal gambling will be safe. Gambling will be eradicated with a target of 6 months, if it was truly successful certainly incredible. It aims to strengthen the war (against) illegal gambling and clarify the jurisdiction and authority of the agencies involved in the regulation and licensing of gambling and online gaming facilities. He really will clean the Philippines, and I think it be a good step. I look at other news this war there would be no casualties, unlike the war against drugs before.

I believe that gambling site should be  registered and they must set up a regulation body to regulate the affair s of  gambling in Philippines, regulating agencies should watch and fine or suspended any gambling company that does not follow due diligence in their operations it will check illegal gambling

Yes, Duterte really wants to clean up the mess in the country. But I dont think it will be an easy task. It is more difficult than war on drugs because many people gambles online. They cannot trace it everytime. And also many illegal operators are still in small towns that is hard to reach. Jueting is still alive and kicking base on my observations and also some illegal cock fighting.
