It's good to have this kind of feature because it's going to help newbies that do not know or have a lack of understanding and knowledge of the phishing and scamming techniques in everything. Nothing would ever make it okay to be phished and scammed, at least there's something to do and be warned about possible scams.

I have never received or seen anything like that in "My Messages".

It's a little bit tricky to be phished (if you are reliant on just what you see) with techniques such as putting links and URLs and making it still look like a link.

This is a great step toward preventing scams as we have seen many phishing attempts.
From when this was introduced? Is there any announcement?
Thats for sure is a great and a good step forward to make aware of possible suspicious Links !
Looks like that it was implemented not long ago and i havnt readed anything about that it will or that it was .

What is interesting is that the warning doesn't appear when the phishing link is inside quote tags! theymos need to fix this since it can be exploited by scammers to bypass the warning system. or whatever its name is
Dont know how difficult that is to make it this way , i guess a few normal links will be removed then also maybe .
But i am not a pro coder so lets see if theymos maybe come up with something about that.

Clearly, this feature was added recently after the noticeable increase of phishing attempts via PMs and the so many topics complaining about it.

I made few tests (by sending messages to my self, didn't try image links yet) to see when the warning will appear. What I noticed so far is that the warning message appears when an image is used as a link or when the link text is a URL and it does not match the real link's destination.
Also, if the link text is a bitcointalk's URL, the message will be edited to display the real link's destination (omit url tags).

What is interesting is that the warning doesn't appear when the phishing link is inside quote tags! theymos need to fix this since it can be exploited by scammers to bypass the warning system. or whatever its name is

I also checked my messages and I see this warning message. Such precautions is always good thing, considering how smart some scammers is and that many people isn't aware about these things. Phishing links hiden under image is tricky and dangerous thing, so, maybe some users will think twice before clicking it after they'll see this warning.

I can't remember seeing it back in the day so the change should happened somewhere around the end of 2019 - beginning of 2020.
I don't think so. It should be in the last few days. I can assure you that I haven’t seen the warning message when I had exchanged PM with the user. It's in the last week of March. So, it's possibly this week.

I sent you a bit more, because I like to round the merits Smiley
Thanks. I thought it was mistake from you lol.

Interesting, I went back to my old PMs and yes, I found the same warning message. I can't remember seeing it back in the day so the change should happened somewhere around the end of 2019 - beginning of 2020. Maybe Theymos had some free time during the corona lock downs and decided to change some things.
Good eye OP Smiley

Never received any PMs which includes images so I actually don't know how long it has been in the forum but every image supposed to have link right because here we need to upload it to an image hosting side and embed into the bbcodes to get the preview of it so its not really very useful l, please correct me if I am wrong.

I think OP is referring to the image actually being a link to somewhere (it's possible to put img tags inside url tags and make it so you go somewhere when you click the image).

I'm not sure how new the actual message is but I don't think it's that new (probably a few years old).

I believe it was started from this case An attempt was made to steal my password, I got PM by this user but there's no warning sign before, so it's either today or yesterday the sign implemented. I was dumb clicking the link and I was so scared because the phishing can recognize my name, so I thought my account is on danger. But hopefully until now my account still not compromised.

I never received anything similar, so this is probably some recent change, maybe because we are seeing more and more phishing attacks recently, not only in bitcointalk forum but in general.
It doesn't really matter what rank and trust accounts have, because they can all be hacked and used for phishing attacks.
Let's wait for official announcement and explanation from theymos and/or moderators.

I was checking out my inbox and found this on one of my PMs from a highly trusted user. Later I realized, it is shown in any PM which has a link inside word/image. A direct link doesn't contain such a warning. This is a great step toward preventing scams as we have seen many phishing attempts.
