They claim to be bought out by BFL lol

Butterfly Labs Acquisition!
We are pleased to announce that PhotonicMining has received an acquisition offer from Butterfly Labs. We are thrilled about it as we will definitely profit from the support of an established market player like Butterfly Labs.

All shares on cryptostocks are still valid, and dividends will be paid as soon as the deal is finalized in order to reward our early investors.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the Swiss Bitcoin Association, and particularly Luzius Meisser.

To celebrate the event we are throwing an acquisition party which you are all invited to. Join us in Zürich on March 25th from 6pm at:

In Böden 139
8046 Zürich
Switzerland

Now the scam operation is complete!

It didn't feel completely fishy without ties to a negligent or incompetent organization.  With BFL, this defiinitely clears things up!   Cheesy

Soooo, how was the party in Zürich? Anybody attended?

Announcement on Cryptostocks was made today 31 Mar 15:51
Tradestop put on PHOTONIC. We are requesting the project owner to clarify the allegations as well as provide personal identifying document by 14th April.

Only took Cryptostocks 20 days to see the obvious...

Reminds me of Steorn. They were shopping for investors for their "Perpetual motion machine" a few years ago. Lots of claims, lots of technical jargon. While reading the IPO on cryptostocks I immediately thought of them.

I can't believe CryptoStocks let these fuckers run their scam.

5 min research on google and you're 100% sure it's a scam.

Seriously who is running CryptoStocks, don't they have a brain ?

A more intellingent-sounding scam, but nevertheless still a scam. Their IP address 162.222.213.136 is the same as uswhss.com (both registered recently), and here is an article linking uswhss to butterfiylabs.com (note the deliberate misspelling):

http://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMining/comments/1uisv4/fake_butterfly_labs_website/

fake butterflylabs sites were also connected to the cts scam

This reminds me of the cryonix scam; but now with the added twist of securities fraud.  The technobabble is at least plausible in this case, but scam nonetheless.

who ever bought 75 BTC of this crap is going to regret it BIG TIME!

clever scam indeed.

I wouldn't put it past them to set up a fake CryptoStocks account and buy their own stock just to make themselves look good (and make an announcement about it)... or maybe that's just me clinging on to the hope that no one is foolish enough to part with such a huge amount of money on the basis of a website and some wild claims...

Aside from the address, this is a scam because:

A) The variable cost of a chip comprised of photonic logic gates capable of performing SHA-256 calculations would far exceed $10k given the yield of the technology.
B) Photonic logic gates operating in the 400-450nm exist in labs right now.   Diffusion is the leading defect present during manufacture, smaller wavelength only exacerbates the previous claim.
C) In non-inert gas bath systems (although CO2 has been used in some cases), it requires in place spinning of fiber glass "conduit".   So either the system has to ship with a gas circulation system to keep gas density uniform or, again, they're using things that only exist in labs at this point.

on the photobullshit scam site:

"PhotonicMining is a spin-off of Onefive, a cutting-edge Swiss company which provides femtosecond lasers for different industrial applications. Thanks to its tight collaboration with Swissphotonics, the Swiss national thematic network for photonics, we received a bottom-up funding from the CTI in 2012 to explore new industrial applications."

Just got a mail back from oneFive asking if they where related to photonicmining, their reply:

"Not at all! SPAM!"

Still they managed to scam 100's of BTC from gullible investors.

The dead give away is the supposed pricing.  If you actually had a miner that powerful that you could manufacture for such a low cost you would be a complete idiot to undercut yourself by that much on the pricing compared to all the other offerings out there right now.

Their sensationalist sounding phrase "shockingly-faster switching speed" did kind of strike me originally as somewhat odd given the straight-forward technical jargon on their homesite. Kind of like supermarket tabloid language suddenly meets high tech. Too bad it is a scam.

I am not vouching for this company.

However, it will seem that the technology referenced is feasible based on prior publications:

http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/118485-mit-almost-produces-an-optoelectronic-computer-chip

http://www.mit.edu/newsoffice/2012/manufacturing-optical-chips-0215.html

The challenge is in determining if this company , photonicmining.com , has really effectively prototyped this photonic transistors.

There affiliation with OneFive.com, will be a plus and strong comforter if it can be verified, as OneFive.com appears to make the basic products that would be used. They also have a relatively  impressive  Google pagerank  of 5. In comparison the domain name, Photonicmining.com , which was registered on 28-Feb 2014 and has 0 page rank.

There is exactly ZERO chance someone would sell a device like this.  Even conservatively you could mine 10+ BTC PER DAY with it.  So it ROI's in two days???

You would own the BTC network if such a device existed.

Which is why I emailed them. It honestly seems like vaporware, but I'm hoping I can get more info out of them and then see what people here can make out of it.
