Ok so i tried a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro and after 3  Angry attempts to install it i finally got a good install while using the 580 only hooked up. So i updated everything(chipset drivers, windows updates, etc...) Then did a DDU and set to no auto driver install. This is the first time that ddu didnt say that it couldnt do something that required admin account so maybe there was something going on that was screwy last time but its always said that before i tried using the x1 slot too. Rebooted into windows installed the Blockchain drivers and shutdown. Installed all other cards via usb risers Booted (this time normal boot time instead of Long boot time)and and let drivers install for other cards. Patched the drivers before reseting. All went well. Started the miner and bam all good and hashing away. Grin

So tried the latest amd driver and it does the same thing. Is it possible that the card in the x1 needs a dummy plug? im out of ideas. The next thing im gonna try is running Ubuntu and see what that does there.

So I did a ddu in safe mode it took a long time to boot after. It detected all as a generic windows graphics device. Installed the latest blockchain driver, Aug 13 I believe. It installed, patched the driver and rebooted. It detected the card as an rx 470 in the pcie x1 slot. Started Afterburner and it showed it was idling at 300mhz like the rest of them. Started the miner and after dag set it goes back to idle. So I restarted the miner and the it crashed with a video scheduling bsod.

Rebooted started miner again same thing went back to idle. So I disabled the card and went to renewable it and another same bsod.

Gigabyte 990fxa-ud5 v3.0 w/latest bios
Kingston hyperX 16gb(4*4gb) 1600mhz
FX - 8320e
Crucial ssd 256gb
Windows 10 pro 64bit
1 x msi rx580 8gb via x16 to x16 cable
4 x msi rx470 4gb via x1 to x16 usb v006(? The one with the 6pin power) risers
1200 watt silent gold coolermaster (powers risers and 470s)
650 watt evga gold (only powers 580, board and had)
Latest amd blockchain drivers

Shorting yes the a1 and b17. It started to smell so I pulled the plug. The small board was burnt but I had another so no loss there.

Have you tried doing a complete uninstall of all graphics drivers and then reinstalling them? (Or perhaps a different driver version?)

I have a 990 fxa UD 5 and I can't get the 1X pcie slot to function properly. It recognizes the card and it functions but the hashrate are way below and sporadic. I have tried the shorting method which did nothing except burn the Riser USB connection. So how do I get it to function properly and have the correct hashrate? The cards I'm using are the RX 470 MSI gaming X 4gb.

When you say that you "have tried the shorting method," do you mean shorting the A1-B17 pins on the slot?

What OS and drivers versions are you using?

What does the rest of your system look like? CPU/RAM/etc.?
