You just make sure that all of these organizations that you are donating to are legit. Bitcoin made it very easy for people to donate and organizations to receive donations. Because of this ease, anybody can set up a fake web site and claim the donations. Once you send coins they are gone.

That is true, it's more easy to give donation by BTC.
We need to really make sure which organizations or foundations is a legit one.

Too easy to make some fake foundation website with facebook fanpage, and speak that they will sent the payment for some catastrophe in another foreign country. This site usually appear when some bad things happen.

But, i wish BTC can be help a lot people through charity in future.
Unfortunately, there still a lot fraud in BTC. Cry

I've donated to a couple of charities but made sure I was doing it through a legit website. As written above, it's nice and easy to set up a fake front. If there's a charity you particularly dig then why not suggest BTC to them? It's easy enough to implement in a lot of places.

I used to watch the thread about Sean's Outpost. Back then, people donate bitcoins to them in order to feed the homeless. It is a good charity, and you'd really see the results.
