It would be nice if they did something like that and they certainly would have the resources too, but unfortunately we all know better about just what kind of people these scumbags are.

My cynical view about this tragedy is: Isn't now the best time to prove Snowden wrong and use all those NSA eyes in the sky? This would be an amazing PR move to say "Look! All those Billions ARE useful! We located the plane! We NEVER lost track of It! Blah.. Blah Snowden Blah Wrong!"
But I guess we are back in the good old days of gigantic computers taking over whole building floors just to execute one algorithm. To reconfigure NSA's SpyNet to save lives is not cost effective it seems...

Malaysian official: Malaysian investigators believe missing jet hijacked, steered off-course
A Malaysian government official says investigators have concluded that one of the pilots or someone else with flying experience hijacked the missing Malaysia Airlines jet.
The official, who is involved in the investigation, says no motive has been established, and it is not yet clear where the plane was taken. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief the media.
The official said that hijacking was no longer a theory. “It is conclusive.”

The data, supposedly, suggested that the plane kept operating for four hours after it was thought lost; at least, its systems seem to have tried to contact satellites for that long.
