I've been planning out my next step of running more miners in a 1,000 sq/ft warehouse. I've been looking at a lot of builds which utilize open racks, usually just wire utility racks. However I've been thinking about using server racks (I have a lot of cheap 42U racks available) and using these https://www.miningrigs.net/product/gmi-7u-antshelf/ which hold 3 miners per shelf. In a 42U rack using 6 vertical PDUs and mounting the network gear elsewhere I could stuff 6 shelves in for 18 miners per rack. Using the server racks, baying them properly, and using blanking panels I think it would make it pretty easy to use any of the off the shelf cold isle containment solutions out there. Honestly I will probably make my own "roof" and just use the magnetic mount air curtains at the isle end. I am also thinking about setting up the racks in groups of 10 with 5 per side. That way I slowly fill the warehouse as I grow, but keep my cold isle cooling needs to only the active group of miners. If I do need A/C cooling (I am in Texas) I can easily run ducts to the top side of the cold isles and then let the miners vent to the rest of the space utilizing proper large exhaust fans.

Have any of you guys used server racks and those 7U miner shelves? I like the cleanliness of the install. Overall thoughts?
