Hey everyone,
So recently i have been using bittrex as my main exchange but since i am starting to use more BTC i want to split up my investments across multiple exchanges.   I looked into both poloniex and cex.io and found very mixed reviews so i wanted to see what you guys had to say about it

I read that in terms of volume, poloniex is better; however, poloniex operates from within the U.S while cex.io operates in Europe (which is huge since US is cracking down a little on exchanges)
I also read that fees are much better on poloniex; and that cex.io has great security now as a result of their past hacks

Like i said, i am very on the fence with which to use and i do not want to make an account and verify myself if i will end up using the other afterwards.

Any advice you guys could add would be great!

You're literally comparing bullcrap with bullcrap.

Poloniex and Cex.io are in the same sort of hole right now. Both have absolutely shitty support that never does anything to help you resolve your issue. You'd be lucky to get a response at all from either site, actually. And both are having customer withdrawals constantly delayed for who knows why.

Use either Bittrex or Shapeshift if you are dealing with altcoins. Use bitfinex, bitstamp, kraken if dealing with fiat. Cex.io and poloniex are not worth the risk, even if you are verified on their sites.

If we're talking about most exchange coins available on any exchange, then this two is the best, but recently there are too many issues facing some users of polo and even cex.io, you can view it on scam accusations. Mostly Poloniex, seem suspicious right now and not recommended there too many reports from them.
So it's up to you if you will try, but if you want recommendations, Bittrex is the best for me.

To be honest I use cex.io and for all this time I never have any issues. Deposits and withdrawals were always in time with no delays, even money transfers to my bank account very smooth with no delays as well.

Didnt use polo for this so i can tell that they are good or bad in this, had experience with bittrex and I can say that they are good as well.

Currently, i would recommend user neither of these.

Poloniex used to be a very legit site and probably the best altcoin exchange available. But recently they have slacked off significantly on their customer support side and nobody is getting any responses on time from them. Plus, deposits and withdrawals are a complete mess atm.

Cex.io are having similar issues, deposits and withdrawals are pending for ages. Stick to bittrex, kraken, etc.

There are complaints against Poloniex lately though, I don't know about Cex.io .

Poloniex has lost quite a number of traders to Bittrex due to their problems of the last months, and I don't expect this outflow to stop as long as Poloniex doesn't do anything to solve every complaint accordingly. It's quite a shame that an exchange which has built itself up to being the largest exchange in terms of overall volume, is putting everything to waste in a matter of months. I remember the time where Bittrex was still being seen as a shit exchange years ago, but now it's sitting firmly in the top 3, where quite regularly it's occupying the nr 1 spot. Regarding CEX.IO; this exchange shouldn't be something people should look to sign up to with so many exchanges offering a far better plaform, and far more volume.

I would choose Poloniex as it is the exchange that has the most number of coins to trade compared to Bittrex, Bittrex is missing a few like Bytecoin while in Poloniex you can have it, also Poloniex have certain coins like Golem and a few other which are very cheap and maybe a good investment in the future if you buy only some and keep them. There are complaints against Poloniex lately though, I don't know about Cex.io .

Forgot to mention:
I know I only asked about poloniex and cex.io but if you guys have any other exchanges you would recommend please post them here.
In terms of trading, i am looking for an exchange that (1) offers service to U.S residents, (2) does not require too much verification (okay if it does),     (3) offers many different alt coins (like bittrex or poloniex), and (4) reliable in terms of withdrawing and depositing

It will will be difficult to get all the factors you have listed at once because aside those big ones you have listed, others will have more of one of those qualities than others.

For the smaller ones that dont have large amount of coin but require little or no verification for that you can try hibtc.com, livecoin.net and several on this section of the forum but at the same time be careful to do your own due diligence in any one you decide to go with.

The ones I mentioned, to the best of my knowledge, I have not had any issues regarding either withdrawing or depositing as there is even a notification in your mail for any of such activity.

The choice of exchanges depends on your trading preference. And exchange wallet should not be used to hold large amount of coins.
Most of the exchanges doesn't require you a verification if you are trading within their limits.

Yeah. Poloniex is a poor option. Cex.io has many coins that bittrex doesn't offer. And personally they both are my most used exchanges.
