I suggest using TabTrader, this is best software for Android and iOs, but Android have more function and usually have update every months than iOs. You can download the poloniex app (polo) from the playstore. It is very simple to you use that app. It not only gives you the price details of bitcoin but alsot most of the other crypto currencies as well. It also shows the price details in notification panel. It has the option to show the price according to btc / usd/ and other currencies as well. So you can choose which in currency you want to see the pricing. All these options could be found in the settings in the polo app. And it also gives you alerts when the prices go up and down.

You could just open safari, googlechrome, or which browser you like to use on your phone. Then you simply search on the web for "{Coin Name} price". Then you can just tap on sites such as coindesk or coinmarketcap.
I use this method too and I think it's a very easy, fast, accurate, reliable and comfortable method.

Are you asking what apps people use to check bitcoin prices?
If you are only interested in the price of bitcoin, then you're probably good to go with Coinbase app. But if you're also interested in other cryptocurrencies like ETH, XMR, etc, try out the Blockfolio app. I personally use it and I'm happy with it.

Coinbase is actually displaying prices of three cryptocurrencies unlike previously when it was allowing only Bitcoin wallet. It is now showing ethereum and litecoins together with Bitcoin wallets.

I personally use Coincap app for iphone. It shows live price changes for a lot of coins instantly in the app itself (something like preev but for a lot of coins)
I literally open it every single day. It's just very useful.

If you are using iPhone you can add it in your stocks app and make that app shortcut means you can just slide the screen and see the latest price of Bitcoin. But you will not find other coins price in this app. best you can use Coinbase app you will get all coins price information in this app. I literally open it every single day. It's just very useful.
