use your money and buy some BTC, mining with your iMac or Air is not good idea.

The money you earn on mining with your iMac or Air not equal to the damage to your machine even don't pay for electricity.

Rough estimate you can get less than one dollar by mining with your iMac and Air.

Agree with "Unacceptable", you should forget mining BTC with GPU, and you should take a look at GPU-mining scrypt-based altcoins.

1. You may choose some profit-switching pools like middlecoin.
2. Nope, unless you want to buy some more GPUs.

I know im a little late in the game but I would really like to get started with Bitcoin mining.

I have an iMac (08) that I don't really care about and don't pay for electricity (i also have an Air).

I also have a wallet.

Here are my questions:

1. What is the absolute easiest way to get started?

-pool suggestions?
-programs?

2. Does it cost anymore than time/electricity?

Thank you all very much, I'm not looking to make hundreds of dollars, just have a little free time on my hands and feel like it could be a little fun.

Best,
