I don't think that things need to be over complicated,  and for the sake of forum economics, it is best to keep the moderation requirements to a minimum. A tiered system for posting and thread starting would be fairly easy to set up, and in fact it is already being used here. This would fit in easily with the current activity and merit systems.

I like your idea, because it is the serious discussion board, but i guess, even if they are a higher ranked members, spammer will always be a spammer, so restricting a board based on rank wont do much for them. Because you know, some of them maybe an account buyer.
Also, there were higher ranks that are spammers from the start that we can't avoid from serious discussion.

....
In addition IMO the "report to moderator" function do need few reports so that we can see...
=>which one has been already reported,
=>which one considered as accepted and
=>which one was rejected.
I have a proposal here too:
Let's create some more buttons instead of the 'Report to moderator', like:
-Report as copypaste/plagiarism
-Report as off-topic
-Report as ref.link included
-Report as low quality or something similar.
-etc...
Or, if you click on the 'Report to moderator' you should have a list with radio buttons to just easily mark the one that fits, and you don't have to write anything, this would save some time and effort for the reporters and maybe they will be more happy to report even more posts...
It was like playing mobile legends. When a player is afk, feeder or intentionally throwing the game,reports are made after the game just like in Dota 2. Option are more limited but reviews will also be need with this kind of proposal. Smiley

The idea could be great because we can filter them base on the kind of reports. Evaluate them if they should stay in the forum. This also could add additional stats for every member like a defined merit.

I have a proposal to multiple reports at one hit. I'm planning using a textbox for insert the link and a checkbox for the report category.

How it works:
if members want to add multiple reports then should click a button "Report more?" then a form showing the multiple textboxes and checkboxes and then hit a button "submit All"

the data will be created an array and will use while inputting to a database

Code:
$arrTxt = array(
    "txt1" => "link1",
    "txt2" => "link2",
    "txtN" => "linkN",
);

$arrCheckbox = array(
    "report1" => "report1",
    "report2" => "report2",
    "reportN" => "reportN",
);

Maybe not buttons or radiobuttons,but maybe something like a drop down list. I have something like that on my phone,for example:

This spammer in serious discussion is a prime example of the need to restrict posting to members, and thread starting to full members.

I don't think this is a good solution. If that is the case someone can points out another board which should be restricted to certain members too. Also there is no guarantee after prohibiting junior ranks, would minimize spam posts.

Same time it will be unfair to many Jr. Members and Newbies who make good posts.

We might need to think of some other solutions for example
  • Restriction of maximum number of post per day
  • Additional time restrictions between posts (5 or 10 minutes)

We need something like a punishment if their post is reported by many people. Lets say, 1000 people reporting, then he/she is banned for 1 day, etc. Of course moderators or admin the one who will decide it is a spam or not.

A guy creates a spam post, I'm visiting the thread right at that moment to report it, a mod is active and the post gets nuked before a second is made.

Now let's say no mod is online since it's Sunday night  Cool, so that guy collects 10, 20 reports till finally a mod comes online...is that fair?

Same can be applied for different boards, some with high activity some with low.
A spam post in altcoins might get unnoticed for hours or even forever while here in meta he will probably get a report per minute  Grin

I doubt many people do this reporting practice. I even saw in one post theymos posted some data of local board where very few numbers of members were reporting.

In addition IMO the "report to moderator" function do need few reports so that we can see...

=>which one was rejected.

In addition to that I would love to see a more detailed stats on the reports made, right now I understand that ignored ones are counted as positive(?).  I'm thinking at least 1/4/ or 1/5 of mine have been at least Tongue

You consider Alt Coin and local discussion boards as "serious discussion"? Let the new people and spammers cruise these boards looking for new bounty campaigns or whatever, it'll keep them away from the real discussions happening on this forum. Maybe the posts you're referring to are deeper in the post history of the member you're calling out, but scanned through and only saw posts for alts and local country.

I found the post in serious discussion. I've got all the alt boards on ignore. I reported the post in serious discussion, and that may be why the thread is no longer there. Good work mods for killing it so quickly if it was deleted.

Just keep reporting them. I banned that user earlier after your report. I wouldn't be against restricting that board to certain member classes but Ivory Tower is the board you want to post in as it's restricted to Members and above.

Maybe it would be a good idea to restrict the Serious Discussion board to members and above, and the Ivory Tower to full members and above. Although I am sure the traffic there would decrease, as I comment on my latest post there.

Spot on Jet Cash. If I had a merit I would've splashed it on this post of yours. That insight seems to have been neglected for a long time now. However, I think the part I bolded shouldn't be placed restrictions on. Newbies often have sensible questions bothering them to ask. There isn't a better way to put out such questions except through opening threads to seek maximum attention.
