Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
The circulating coins are the coins that are currently available to the public.  Sometimes it's possible that this figure is inaccurate, because major altcoin developers could keep additional coins to the ones that they publicly hold, and it's possible that coins have been lost and are no longer accessible, but it's what CoinMarketCap believes is the circulating supply.

The max supply is the highest supply that there will ever be in the future of the coin.  In Bitcoin's case there can never be a higher supply than 21 million coins (unless there is a fork with a higher supply which becomes far more popular, but this will be listed separately to the legacy chain on CoinMarketCap).

some altcoins like waves, stratis does not have max supply
Some altcoins are inflationary (e.g. Steem).  Of course they have their own systems which are not necessarily the same as Bitcoin.
Does not this mean that projects that has bigger Circulating Supply could not have burst in the price?
No.  It's just that the price will be related to the circulating supply.

Total Supply = Total coin will be produced until the end.
Circulation = Total coin that in the users hand and being traded in everywhere/every exhanger.

Bitcoin has a total supply, which mean it will not produce more coin after hit 21.000.000 / 21 Millions coins,
how about Ethereum for example, why it doesn't have total supply ?
because it's created that way by the developer, which mean it's all depend on the developer themself.
if they want to limit the total supply, then the coin will have a total supply.
if they don't want to limit it,then it doesn't have any limit.

for short term total supply have a big role for deciding the price, but for long term it doesn't.
it's all depend on the technology, development from the developer.
take a look at Ethereum,it doesn't have a limit but the price is high ? it's because the development by the developer.
so it's not really surprising for you to see IOTA have 2 Billions coin in circulation and the price hit $50 if their developer increasing their technology, discovery and others

Hi because i am new i need some basic information about the correlation between Circulating Supply/max suply. For example bitcoin has max supply and some altcoins like waves, stratis does not have max supply and there is iota which has the same Circulating Supply with the max supply.Does not it  the max supply makes one coin more unique and the demand should be bigger? If i new Pablo Picasso in his later years and i know that he will not make any more pictures i will know that his pictures will be much more expensive and  desirable.Does not this mean that projects that has bigger Circulating Supply could not have burst in the price? How can IOTA became 50$ with this  2,779,530,283 Circulating Supply, i think that this is unlikely to happen because that will mean IOTA will has market cap of 150 000 000 000 and that probably will never happen.
