From what I understand, localcoinswap has a non-custodial wallet, no?

Suppose you have received USDT on your address. In order to move it to another address you would need TRX in the same address which will be used as a transaction fee -- and that is how you activate an address, you just need to send a couple of TRX to it. Try looking up an address with no TRX on tronscan.org and it will be marked as "inactivated address"

My guess is scammers are twisting some words in order to scam people. There's absolutely no need to slide on your DMs for this.

localcoinswap.com does not require anything other then an email address and a phone number to get an SMS verification.
SOME people on there do more KYC then Coinbase.
If you are in a deal with one of them RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

They are either scammers or collecting documents for identity theft later.
NEVER EVER CONTACT ANYONE OUTSIDE OF THE localcoinswap  chat.

NEVER give your ID to any of these people.

I have sold and bought a fair amount of crypto there and never had to give any info that would not generally be required. Can't zelle me without my phone number, can't send other things without an email address, can't mail me money without an address. And so on, but that's about it.

The last post in LocalCoinSwap Announcement thread is in 2019 and LocalCoinSwap's last active time is in 2020. They left the forum 3 years ago and it's impossible for OP to contact them in forum.

Quote
The second: the LocalCoinSwap Exchange campaign, once run by: @Murat, in 2018, I believe he, to say the least knows how the LocalCoinSwap exchange functions.
It is good information but between 2018 to 2023 is 5 years that are long enough for many changes on LocalCoinSwap. Murat even forgot what he experienced with LocalCoinSwap exchange in 2018 when he run the bounty for them. I believe within 5 years, LocalCoinSwap exchange had many upgrades on their platform and Murat did not follow it up over these years.

N/B:. This might not be the right board for this post but please bear with me and I will be glad if people who have used the localcoinswap to guide me please.
OP, although I never use and register on LocalCoinSwap exchange, but there is important information, if you want to know about LocalCoinSwap.

First: LocalCoinSwap Exchange, there are representatives in this Forum: @LocalCoinSwap, for that you can ask all the actions that are applied on the LocalCoinSwap exchange.

Their thread: LocalCoinSwap P2P cryptocurrency exchange

The second: the LocalCoinSwap Exchange campaign, once run by: @Murat, in 2018, I believe he, to say the least knows how the LocalCoinSwap exchange functions.

Perhaps, the information above can shed some light on LocalCoinSwap's journey for you.

Just as the tittle implies, please have anyone ever used localcoinswap?
I have my account set up there. It's a very good alternative to Agoradesk given the fact that they don't require KYC. The platform sort of reminds me of Localcryptos and let’s you even import private keys of your individual wallets.

I tried using it and first had to join their telegram group on their site but I got a guy wanting me to validate my address and I wasn't ok with the process so I had to bring it to my community  over here and I want to know if its easy to simply buy usdt(trc20) from them.and send it to a different  whether without having to validate the wallet?
There is no validation of the wallet needed. That was probably a scammer trying to trick you.

TI was really confused  about the whole process and as for the Telegram, I got their Telegram  handle from their site and I had to ask the question in the Telegram group chat where someone slide in my telegram dm and claimed to be from the development department
If you visit the right website, you should be able to see a list of sellers or buyers right? I'd suggest trading with those with track records instead of newbies. You should be able to avoid most scammers who require you to contact them through other platforms with that. Most P2P platforms have built-in chat systems, to begin with.

Thank you all for your kind words and indeed this forum is a life saver and the idiot couldn't  explain himself further  after I had to interrogate him.
Scammers will contact you first on the occasion when you talk about getting into trouble publicly on any services, this is actually their classic way. Because of this, I always avoid filing complaints via social media services, it's also annoying that afterwards I have to delete PM spam from these scammers.

Yes I heard about them and they are not a scam, but anyone asking you to join any telegram chat is most likely a scammer that has nothing to do with localcoinswap.
Best thing you could do is to contact localcoinswap support and ask them about this, maybe report this user if needed, they can help you much more than anyone from forum.
You don't have to use telegram notifications for localcoinswap if you don't want them.

Hey, that's a scammer you're chatting with there.

I remember back then when I received an airdrop on coinsbit and was asked to complete KYC verification before I would be able to withdraw, I took the issue to their telegram group if there was another way to spend the money in my account without having to verify my account since the money was pretty small and was not worth Ricky my KYC for. I also received a guy who said he was going to help me bypass the system but before then he want me to verify my account that way they wmt be able to detect any malicious activity and to do the verification I have to send some BNB to an address ( he claimed the address was generated from my coinsbit account, he got it since he wants to bypass the system) and after I send it I'll be able to withdraw after 12hrs -24hrs time.
I went back to the group to verify the identity of the user but I was told that they have nothing to do with the person chatting me. (All these occured before I came to the forum)

@Obari if you're not comfortable with the process there you could try another popular site. and be sure not to send any money to anyone no matter what they claim it's for.

I used some peer to peer trading platforms and they always do all things on their websites or mobile applications. Like you want to ping your trade partner, use the platform chat box. If you want to communicate with the platform moderator for disputes, supports, use their chat box. Each platform will have a special verified badge for their moderators. Such badge is to avoid impersonators who are scammers and will try to scam users.

Validate your address through a telegram group, it sounds not right. Did you visit an official site of Localcoinswap?

This is what I saw on the site which is what I expected:

How to contact the trader?

Once you enter into a trade you will be able to chat freely with this trader through a private message box.

Where does telegram comes from?

Do not do anything beyond the site and also avoid scam. There is nothing like address validation.

You don't have to validate your addresses and definitely, there is no need to join in their telegram group unless you wanted too.

You can register with just an email and verfy it to access your wallet and since its an no KYC platfrom then you no need to go through any further verification, just choose the coin or token => send& receive then your wallet address will shows that can be used to fund your wallet.

Validate your address by doing what exactly? Send him an amount of money? This looks like a scam. You should be able to do your trading process without telegram, unless you decided to enable their telegram notifications[1] (which also doesn't need any sort of address validation)
