I also don't really follow Polkadot's development, because Polkadot is still a new coin, so in my opinion, the fundamentals they have are not as strong as ethereum.
But if you look at the price development, Polkadot is in demand by many investors, if you want to keep a small portion of your portfolio it doesn't matter, because maybe Polkadot has a good future.

Polkadot went a long way and it's still relatively cheap. But don't forget the thousands projects in the Ether eco-system.

IMO if you want a more substantial gain, buy DOT, but if you prefer safety, buy Ether.

Polkadot scored very weak in a technical comparison at Medium blog, mainly because it's very inflational:

Comparison between Avalanche, Cosmos and Polkadot

I was very surprised but it is true, Polkadot has 10% inflation per year and is not capped (like BTC) which makes it very inflational. Not profitable to hold and bad investment decision.

Cardano or Avalanche are much better!
Cardano is capped at 45,000,000,000 Coins
Avalanche is capped at 720,000,000 Coins

The CMC ladder is always open for any altcoin to occupy the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on, if indeed the altcoin has good potential like the ethereum
coin which is in  2nd position  after bitcoin.  Even many  Polkadot predict  that they  will shift  the position  of Eth this year.  But I  still assume
that this year Eth will still be in 2nd position on the CMC ladder.

I think its ok to compare the two without necessarily saying one is going to overtake or destroy the other. With ETH promising more scalability with the upgrade, its helpful to know in order to better understand the gravity of the scaling solution they are creating.

For what I can see on Polkadot, it is still early. The project is still young.
Goals of Polkadot are some features didn't or difficult to achieve by Ethereum.
I hold some Polkadot, but it small allocation from my portfolio and to be honest, if I bought Bitcoin instead of Polkadot before, I have much more returns. And I am somehow disappointed because I have some Bitcoin before that has converted with Polkadot, but it's ok for now, I'll just ride the flow.

indeed, its too early to judge if polkadot is the new ethereum my friend
and you don't need to regret your decision by buying polkadot rather than bitcoin, because i believe polkadot will growing too

as i know, polkadot is a solid and good project, but i never think if this project will be the new ethereum
because in the past a lot of project claimed as the next ethereum, or ethereum killer, but the fact the can't replace ethereum as the best altcoins in the markets

DOT is going to be one of the projects this year to give Ethereum fight for her money, it would be wise to allocate some of your money in Ethereum into Polkadot, what I am looking for is when we see all these new promising projects looking to use Polkadot release the platform and the number of users they are able to attract

Wonder if Polkadot can really attract users and be more popular than eth. But right now, I will still be on ETH, once phase 1 of eth 2.0 will be deployed, I guess there will be some improvements in the network. Usually, the problem of a potential competitor is how to get their customers on board. It is hard to get the attention of potential clients if you are relatively new in the competition.

DOT has done really well over the last 5-6 months. It’s still very cheap so there’s certainly no harm in holding a position in DOT. ETH is quite expensive in comparison so if you’re looking for an alt with high potential to the upside then 100%, DOT is a great option.
DOT is certainly an option to go in right now if you were to take advantage of the Alts bull run. It is regarded as being the next closest alt to ETH if not its rival. This is all due to its system which would solve some of the current issues ETH has such as scalability and fees.

Ethereum has seen as much "Ethereum killers" and Bitcoin has seen "Bitcoin killers". Guess what, anyone can claim that they are better than some established coin, but until they overtake its marketcap, have more hashpower, have more users and more developed community, that's just empty talk. If you, as investor, is going to hop on hype trains like that, you will just suffer loss after loss, because these pumps always end with a huge dump.

DOT had established its community and has been around the market for some years.  I do not think that it will be the next ETH but I can say, it is a good project to invest in.  So far I only hear great things about Polkadot and it is one of the altcoin that I am watching.

I heard a story about new ETH couple of times. Each few months we have 'new ETH", ADA for example was ment to be new ETH.

Yeah, there have been many projects that got called "Ethereum-killer" or "the next ETH". Still, ETH is enthroned above all the other projects right behind Bitcoin. I just think it doesn't need a "killer", we will rather see different blockchains that are interoperable between each other. Projects like Polkadot, Avalance etc. might not replace Ethereum but they definitely have the technology to be a top crypto!

A lot of people were talking about Polkadot and it's future. Most of the people were pointing it as the next ETH. I personally don't know much about this project. To my known, it's a copy project of Ethereum. I have little to zero knowledge on altcoin TBH.
Does it worth have some investment in this project? I was checking it on Binance and found there was a 200k buy wall; haven't checked in the last hour though. What do you think? People are moving their fund from BTC to alt and DOT can be one of the best choice?

I would not say that it is a copy project of ETH. They have differences. Yes, one of creators of Polkadot if I am not mistaken was relevant to the process of Ethereum's creation. And Polkadot has the goal to develop different projects on their Blockchain, like the Ethereum does, but Polkadot is more fir DeFi projects, that become more and more popular and demanded nowadays. What about investing it should be only your decision, but what I can admit that different projects connected with Polkadot showed good results and are promising. So it may be very perspective directon.

It's a little reason to move to another token just because of high fees on ETH but it won't hurt holding DOT after all its price is also moving up. You are still going to profit from DOT, there's Bullrun anyway. It will still be worth having your investment to ETH though. Personally, I will still prefer ETH since it had been proven as a big gainer in the past months.  AFAIK DOT doesn't;t yet have anything on thier platform.

No doubt has been received overwelmingly well by the market and it is perhaps among the very few projects that directly made into the top 10 list really fast after launch, the future potential is also huge for dot but at this stage comparing it with ETH is not the right thing to do.

I heard a story about new ETH couple of times. Each few months we have 'new ETH", ADA for example was ment to be new ETH.

ETH has:
1-community
2-brand
3-use cases being build by years (f.e. uniswap)
4-infrastructure (f.e metamask - well amost every wallet support eth, pay with eth on many sites)
Dot has:
1-overhyped price
