SC2 is pretty fun to play,
sure the difficulty isn't as great as the original as they've simplified the controls
but it's easier to learn and just as hard to master.

My only complaints about SC2 is it has no lan support.

Uhh... not sure what you mean here but if you are referring to say setting up your own little mini-pool on your lan, then yes you can.  See solidcointalk.org or the IRC channel for help with that as I personally don't use it.

I don't have anything useful to say, so this post is EPIC FAIL.

Corrected it for you.

Difficulty is working just fine now. Block generation is slowed compared to earlier when it was almost 1 block / second.

"Difficulty is working fine" can only be asserted when the target block generation is reached - that has yet to be seen.

53 adjustments into the chain and it's still only at 4% of what it should be.

Math error.  Network would have have to expand 185% in last 8 hours to maintain block speed.

A ballpark figure.

This morning block times were ~5s per block.  Now they are ~6s.

In that time period (roughly 8 hours, 2160 blocks, 13 difficulty increases) difficuly increased by a factor of 4.89 yet block time only increased 12%.  For that to be accurate the network would need to have grown by 4.89/1.12 = 430%.

Essentially the network would have needed to quintuple again in the last 8 hours to prevent block times from rising to ~30 seconds ea.

Keep swinging like that and someone will catch a cold.... math fail again....

Then enlighten us, how many new users/hashes would it take to sustain that ~6s blk generation?

Occam's Razor fellas.  What's the more likely scenario: Borked Algorithm, or massive unprecedented adoption?

Edit: If you think 'massive adoption', I have a bridge for sale, PM me for details  Tongue

Even with the latest difficulty adjustment, block generation is still at 6s.

I'm not super good at the math, anyone wanna take a whack at what new users/hashes the network would need to sustain 6s blks over the last 45 adjustments or so?

Untrue, the first difficulty adjustment was from 8 to 6.

8 to 6, what's the problem?HuhHuh Huh

Was a bit of a freak incident. The genesis block was generated 24 hours earlier and the first retarget thought that the first 360 blocks, including starting from the genesis block, took longer than it actually did.

All that's been observed is the difficulty going up.

The question at hand is are the above figures you quote working.  I do not believe they are.  I wonder what others think.  So I made a poll.

So you asked the wrong question, should have asked "Is the max diff up/down % limit of SC2 a good idea?".

There seems to be some debate on weather or not SC 2.0 has a properly functioning difficulty.  All that's been observed is the difficulty going up.

How do you think it'll respond while falling?

Max up is +13%, max down -75%... So what was your question?
