kinda pointless thread, if pirate is smart, he doesnt have many (if any) coins stored on GOX.  all he has to do is send coins to friends and give them a little cut for their time.

Does MtGox know for certain who pirate is?

It's obvious that neutrality is the economical choice.

But one must account of the severity of the ponzi before simply pointing to 'neutrality'. Millions of dollars in BTC should not be taking lightly, and I think MtGox is completely entitled to further investigation.

Should MtGox compound a potential crime with a definite crime?

No wonder so many ignore you (including me..I just had to click on this thread)

When MtGox is legally obliged to freeze funds, they should. Not any other time. Period. Or it's a crime.

Why is it that bitcoiners get all upset when someone steals their coin, and then want some big name bitcoin business to go steal someone's coin back for them.

Taking something that is not yours without the legal (or moral) authority to do so is called "stealing" smoothie. You accuse pretty much everyone of that, why do you advocate it now?

I'll have you know the following:

1. Most people who ignore me can't handle what I have to say so they cry by pushing the ignore button.
2. I did not have any bitcoins invested with pirate or a PPT.
3. Who said I am asking mtgox to steal anything? It's a poll you dumbass. Get a grip.
4. I accuse EVERYONE of stealing? Oh really? When have I accused YOU of stealing?

Seriously get your facts straight or STFU.

I remember this discussion from when the announced dump in July happened.

Isn't this a tad late? What's the point in freezing an empty account?

Who said it's empty?

Imagine, you day-trade on MtGox, some day, Gox freeze your account, stating they heard on a forum that you scam a coin from someone !

That probably happens more than you think.

Of course their excuse for freezing the account is always different.

Should Mt Gox freeze Pirate's account?

Given all the evidence and multiple claims of pirate not returning funds would it not be at least somewhat reasonable for MTGOX to freeze pirate's account that he has with them?

They have frozen people's accounts in the past for much less reasonable reasons. Vote!

This hasn't been done already? Wow....

No account freezing, as they are not implied in anything pirateat40 did, if he ever did something wrong...

All I knew from that story came from this forum, then no solid proof..

The only good reason to freeze an account should be if the Term Of Use were not respected or any official court order.

Gox is not the police.

People who invested with Pirate took a "risk".  7%/week is such an obvious fraud that anybody who invested deserves what they got.

We don't even know for sure that pirate has a Mt Gox account containing any significant amount of coins.  He'd be foolish if he does, precisely because of the potential for it to be frozen either by regulators or by a court.  But no, Gox shouldn't freeze accounts unless the activity on those accounts is breaching AML/CTF regulations, the accounts have been subject to unauthorised use or a legal demand is made for the freezing of the accounts.

You're just butthurt because you didn't think of it first. Let's try to be sensitive to pirate's feelings. If you made up a great Ponzi scheme then went live to Vegas to gloat about it with your co-villains and it worked overwhelmingly well would you like a bunch of butthurt fuckers freezing your funds? I thought not!

Theymos had a ponzi advertisement in his sig line when I first came here. There's a history of acceptance for ponzi's, get over it!

How am I butt hurt? What evidence do you have? lol

ROTFL - you're right I have no proof.

I don't think Mt Gox should be the 'police' any more than they already are.

It should be irrelevant where the coins in his account came from.

Neutrality on the Gox!

If they do, they should also freeze the account of everyone that gave him bitcoins.

The SEC would have to get a court order and contact the appropriate authorities / court in Japan. Alternatively one of pirateat40's creditors would have to sue him, get a judgment in the United States and then register the judgment in Japan.

I think MtGox should freeze the OP's account, for making a poll that doesn't include "no, they should double his account's value". Tongue

Did he break any of their terms of service? Do they have a court order?

Absolutely not.

You can't punitively punish someone and expect to keep your integrity as a business (or as an industry leader).

poll is missing a "I don't give a fuck"-option!

That's the option where you don't bother with the poll. LOL
