I know its rude to talk about money but it's BITCOIN we are talking about in here...
Plus, it's not like we will know who owns what as the votes are anonymous
Unless they are being logged :-)
what do you mean?
If the web host for the bitcointalk forums or the forum software itself is modded to log votes on polls - and it may very well since it knows if you have voted or not - then while a regular user might not know who voted what, the someone who has access to the logs or to the database of the forum might. This could be by hacking, a coding error, a dishonest employee at the host, or by legal process etc. So, while your vote could be anonymous now, if someone obtained access to the database or the logs they could see that perhaps user X stated they had more than 500 bitcoins.
My only real point was that one should not count on the votes being anonymous.
This excludes the NSA et al which is a different issue. :-)
uhh ok i guess thats a possibility.. but i doubt they will check logs for this poll anyway.. and even if they do, there is no chance they can reach your BTCs
