In a series of 51% attacks, bitcoin may loose confidence and this gives opportunities for future alt coins to out perform and taking over.

good post - i think that if US, UK, Germany, China's governments realizes what the bitcoin is and see the threat to its monetary system, any of above mentioned countries could easily invest enough money into Asics to got more than 51% of all the mining servers... Grin

I don't really see anything that could lead to the end of bitcoin, at least in the near future.
Maybe a 51% attack could crash the value for a short period, but it will recover in my opinion.

A terrorist attack, or more likely a false-flag terrorist attack, that is blamed on Bitcoin financing.
