I had a legacy Poloniex account with 8k in it. All of sudden, they require you to verify your account, otherwise you cannot access your money. Well I tried to verify but they won't allow it because I live in New York State!

Leaving money on an exchange is one of the worst mistakes anyone would make and I’m always avoiding making such a mistake. Maybe what you have to do in this situation is contact the support ,if they are not going to allow you to make use of their exchange due to your location ,then they should at least find a way to give you back your money .I can’t believe that people are still making use of poloniex even till now I hate that exchange .

follow the rules given by poloniex support, maybe you should send a ticket and you have to wait for them to respond to your complaint.
I had a bad experience, and some friends complained about the poloniex support service. but don't panic, good luck.

You've got two options.

Either try find someone who can complete the verification for you, but it may not work or you may struggle to find someone, also you'd need to be able to trust this person.

Secondly, contact them and see what they say. They may be able to come back at you saying that you're not allowed to access the site from NY but I suspect it's just some issue around needing further verification or human interaction when doing so.

Either way, try follow up here so anyone with the same situation can know the results.

Maybe contact their customer support is best way to do, it is better than you ask someone else to do verification for you (incase you have think about it). I think they will understand and will accept your data.

Poloniex exchange based on USA and they are regulated and comply with AML so that why they need all member to verify account and provide KYC. If you really have that problem is better contact their support again or contact them in their social media.

Is really Poloniex does not accept user from New York State? I know Poloniex from USA so i think they also will accepted user from that country. I used Poloniex in 2015 and in that times verification ID running fast just less than 24 hours. Poloniex now become better exchange because they add more coin in their platform. Poloniex should be increase the customer support to attrack new trader.

Already heard about this problem. One of my acquaintances faced the same situation and as far as I know, he was helped to confirm the data only after he applied technical support.

What's up with them not allowing people from New York though? I'm pretty sure buying and selling BTC is legal in NYC(though not 100% sure). Is there a new law or ban or something concerning NYC? Yet another reason to not leave funds on exchanges.
