Strange that it was in the exact moment something was pumping.
Indeed it is.  You'll find that "glitches" and "DDoS attacks" happen on Poloniex pretty much every time something significantly pumps, and that when there are "DDoS attacks" the site is usually still accessible even though you can't do trades.

If you ask me, it's just insider trading from Poloniex.  It's very unusual for an exchange to be that incompetent in circumstances that aren't suspicious.  Their trollbox was full of complaints about shit like this and the fact that they took a very long time to respond to support tickets, so they just removed it altogether.

There was a thread on here from someone who had 400 BTC stuck on Poloniex for several weeks.

As soon as you can, move over to Bittrex (or ideally, a decentralised exchange).  They've always been good for me.

Well that's sad, I was very excited about polo, the volume is incredible, liquidity very good, interface good enough. I still have some assets there. I was trading in bittrex and I had no problems there. Although, I experienced a glitch: that pop-up when your order gets filled, when I had partial executions it came up time and again for the same partial execution, until all of it was executed.

Both of them kinda delayed my deposits/withdraws a bit, but nothing that serious -- only a bit frightening. I still didn't try to withdraw in polo.

Which decentralized exchanges are out there? I thought they still didn't exist as of now.

on August 1 will USDT be affected by the incoming event? I change my BTC to USDT by the way.
USDT is completely different chain so it might not get affected from segwit activation but you might not get enough sell orders on bitcoin because deposits and withdrawals will be disabled during activation day in most of the exchange platform.

So I was holding USDT and I tried to buy some crypto, but I couldn't execute the buy order because poloniex was showing I had not enough USDT. The balance was there, I clicked and it filled the field, and I even checked the Balance Tab and it was there.

Only a couple of minutes after I tried half dozen of times the balance was "good" for use, nothing changed at all, I simply could execute the order.

Very worrying glitch to say the least! Strange that it was in the exact moment something was pumping.

are you sure your usdt is in free status? because sometimes we forgot that our usdt is in use in lending or margin account

Yes, I'm sure since I never used margin nor lending, so far.

don't do it,
why would you conver all of your BTC into USDT ? we will see another ATH in coming days or weeks,
no matter what happen on 1 August Bitcoin always break another ATH every year,
don't let your fear take control of your body my friend,you can see right now Bitcoin price went up significantly because many people already regain their confident and about Segwit,Hardfork,etc ;
BIP91 now is "almost locked in" as only about half of the remaining blocks of the current period (17/32) are needed to signal for it - miners could only revert it if more than 50% decide to change to a non-BIP91 client now,or we could say it's already locked in.

Poloniex is really terrible these days, the most important thing is their withdrawal absolutly shit if you're unlucky one,
noone will respond you in a day or two,at most it'll take more than 1 week to finish it or even completly lost

Bittrex is better alternative to poloniex and I have started using bittrex instead of polo these days and I suggest you to also use bittrex, just move your USDT balance to bittrex and buy bitcoin there because they also have BTC-USDT pair https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=USDT-BTC

I'm also moving to Bittrex now because of so many issues on Poloniex. I so frustrated that even the support is not cooperating and not answering you ticket. I have no other option but to go to Bittrex. A simple 'glitch' might cause thousand of dollars lost to a customer. That's why is it so important for them to be really gives us a real time of the trading and of course our funds. Why I don't understand its that they should do everything to give their customers better support because we are the one giving them life and I guess they are really earning huge right now because of volumes and the number of customers are growing exponentially everyday.

I was going to use Poloniex for the first time today, but after reading your post, and the below mentioned articles, I will wait until these glitches are fixed.

In the last link the guy complains about the very same problem, so they have this glitch for at least an year.

They have minimum amount to be used,
not really sure for the number.

It is serious and big problem if Polo hold (significant) amount of deposit within their bag

I also have often the same problem on poloniex with usdt. Until this problem is fixed I keep a little amount of usdt (around 9 cent) and order works.
