You need to be on a computer with a "hi-res" webcam built in.
....
Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Wow, indeed strange and stupid. I hope that we'll get some positive feedback too from somebody that managed to pass the camera test.

On a happier note, at least Poloniex warn us in time and, from what I understood, even if you don't verify the account, you'll still be able to withdraw your money.

We all read it that way, and that is the reason I went back, that and  because I can short ETH there. Smiley

I really thought they would pull this shit so I'm not surprised and now I am going to shove it down their throats.

Fucking bankers piss me the fuck off.

    Withdrawals will remain enabled at the daily withdrawal limits prior to the deadline.

If people don't want to be part of this verification process, they need to start moving coins off Poloniex NOW. Don't wait and then find you have got caught up in delays/sudden changes.

[....]I am filing charges.

I've also set to bold something which, from what I know, it's also something they didn't do. Maybe it's of some help.
Luckily I withdrew long ago...

We have recently completed a major upgrade to our customer identification and verification systems. As a result, we will soon require legacy accounts to become verified through the latest version of our verification portal. The exact date for this deadline will be announced in Q1 2018. While you will be given advance notice before this requirement goes into effect, we encourage you to verify your legacy account now to avoid any potential interruptions in your ability to trade on the platform.

Check your profile to determine if your account is Legacy or Verified:

As with any change, we understand you may have concerns about how this requirement impacts you and the consequences of not meeting this verification deadline. Here are further details on what to expect.

On the date of the deadline, legacy accounts will be placed in a state where:

    Trading and lending will be disabled;
    Open orders will be closed;
    Loans will have auto-renew switched off;
    Margin positions will be given an 8 week wind-down period where they can only be diminished or closed. After the 8 week wind-down period, they will be closed;
    Deposit addresses will be revoked. Any deposits sent to a revoked address will not be recoverable until the account is fully verified;
    Withdrawals will remain enabled at the daily withdrawal limits prior to the deadline.

If at any point you verify your legacy account, full functionality will be restored and your daily withdrawal limit will be increased to $25K USD equivalent.

As a registered money services business, Poloniex is committed to compliance with all applicable law requiring identification and verification of its customers. If you have questions about these or any other Poloniex terms, we encourage a careful and thorough review of our terms of service and privacy policy.

If people don't want to be part of this verification process, they need to start moving coins off Poloniex NOW. Don't wait and then find you have got caught up in delays/sudden changes.

Since the above bolded is a complete lie I am filing charges. I would like help in support of this as I foresee this will end up in court. This is my initial feeler thread.

Is Polo liable?

I only have a grand or 2 on there but it is the fact they are trying to take away our rights that I cannot abide. I could easily verify and get my funds but I know there are many who cannot. So I am willing to stand up for us all, but I will need your support people so stand up.

This is not some small fly by night exchange now it is a Gargantuan Financial institution backed by Goldman BallSacks.

In short, the user won't be able to use the site if the account is unverified. However, even now, verification takes so much time to process for several users and most support tickets are not being answered on time. I agree with you about moving the coins out of Polo, I think much better to withdraw before the year ends because problem/delay is more likely to happen when users withdraw simultaneously before the deadline.

Seems that number of exchanges that are not requiring a KYC is gradually decreasing.  Shocked

Just for a heads up with the verification process they are using...

You need to be on a computer with a "hi-res" webcam built in.

This probably won't effect many but I gave up and withdrew what I had on there because there seems to be no alternate way of doing it.

What sucks is, you don't find out about it until they have your real info including SSN, name, phone and address.

None of my desktops have cameras or microphones on them (with good reason) so I tried both Safari and Chrome on a late model iPad, didn't work, then tried an older (old but not antique) Toshiba laptop (built in webcam) running Ubuntu and using Firefox.

That generated an error like "low res camera detected" and "cannot be used".

At least with Bittrex they just wanted photos uploaded which wasn't much of a problem.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.
