Ok, finally my funds have been released by Poloniex! Took a while but I was able to withdraw my funds before shutting down my a/c.

I wish I had been that lucky!
But I wasn't, and I lost more than one BTC, which Poloniex stole from my account.

today they have asked me to upload a copy of a recent utility bill...

That's not normal. I never had to provide a utility bill. They have no right to ask for that info, a passport & photo is more than enough & meets the legal requirement.

See this post for more info:  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--4403389

I didn't expect this, and it is posing to be a little bit of a problem for me.   I do not have any utility bill coming to me at the same address as the ID proof I provided.  I will have to perhaps get creative...

Once the IRS gets involved (I know they have infiltrated Poloniex through SEC requirements) know that things are going to turn real ugly.

They have no right to ask for these documents, but they do because it legally is a way for them to know more about you, and it directly feeds the three letter agencies with your information as well. People are better off accepting the changed reality and adapt to the situation by either accepting it and provide the requested documents, or to not use centralized exchanges anymore.

Governments want to know who you are, and want you to pay your due taxes, all in a friendly manner, or not so friendly.

this was already expected, how would they know where you live if you do not deliver utility bill? welcome to the world of government bureaucracy, soon they will have to create some face scanners program and force people to trade with their active web cam, hahaha so we will all be controlled live. Just kidding. The problem with this type of verification is that these guys create problems for people who are from Portuguese speaking countries, because our documents are in Portuguese.

I just checked my account, it's frozen Cry. Does verification require a photo ID?
or filling the basic personal date sufficient to reactivate my account to do just last withdrawals on my Doge/LTC.
Good thing I withdrew most of my BTC back in July/August last year Cool
Basic details won't be suffice. What you'd need is probably:
ok... but that's the opposite of what they said in december 2017
they broke their own promises Angry on the 2 points I bolded below
Read this article, they have indeed broken their promises: http://bitcoinist.com/poloniex-breaks-promises-forces-kyc-legacy-account-holders/
I thought since Circle bought poloniex, all the bylaws would change, but they only are becoming stricter on KYC. Sad

I also notice the latest poloniex's annoucement in kabit9's screenshot posted above
I thought they would just block trading and let people withdraw their funds if not doing/complying with verification
that's like stealing people's money if we are not allowed to make last withdraw
Banks have been doing that for years now. They keep your funds on hold for every tiny reason that they can possibly find. Those fuckers inspired poloniex and bittrex to do the same. Even right now, my bank has kept my 2000$ on hold.
I also notice the latest poloniex's annoucement in kabit9's screenshot posted above
I'm a bit confused, what do they mean by saying "...within the next 2 weeks"?
isn't that mean we have 2 weeks to comply before freezing or before what?
I haven't log yet, planning to check it out sometimes today Embarrassed

WITHDRAW IMMEDIATELY!
Unless you have the patience to talk to the support to ask why and what they did to your account(supposedly if they did,God forbid though).
Frozen accounts only means you can't withdraw I guess.

The shitty thing is that they did not send us any email or notification 2 weeks before freezing the accounts.

I see that the next phase has just started, they are now freezing all legacy accounts Lips sealed
Hadn't they been doing that from a past few months? A lot of people got their accounts frozen/blocked and apparently some even got banned(because of living in Syria and shit).
I guess I should check and withdraw what's left in my account
if frozen can we still trade? to unify all different coin balance in btc/doge for last withdrawal

I believe that they are coping with the new platform but somehow they shouldnt take aside on what are the things that should be prioritize.Yes, it does take too much time and effort but this should really be the way on how to treat up users. If they would just simply neglect this one then i will not be surprised that they would go the same path with poloniex. Exchange popularity do come and go depending on how they do perform or do such service into its users.
Its Circle. Its poloniex. They suck. Big time.

Do they care about their customers? Hell no.

Do they care about their own money? Fuck yeah.

Will poloniex ever get into a good exchange ever again? No Can Dosville, Baby Doll.

Legacy account only means that you created your account before certain very important term changes were forced through.

This title however doesn't prove to hold much value. Bittrex has automatically changed the status of all legacy accounts to have them comply with their recently changed terms, which people are massively complaining about.

I had a pretty solid withdrawal limit before this trolling started, but it got downgraded to just 0.4BTC which is quite demotivating. If the price keeps going up, basic accounts will only be allowed to withdraw 0.10BTC.
Bittrex used to be a damn exchange. I loved that exchange, and had awesome trades in that one. And one day they collapsed my withdraw limit from 3 BTC to 0.4BTC,without prior warning. And then they shut down registrations and came up with a new beta, let's see what they have really done now. Although,Bittrex's CEO confirmed that USD pairs will be available in bittrex,as they have teamed up with a New York signature bank.
I'd just like to say though that without a legacy account on which people are able to trade without verification, there is virtually no reason to use poloniex anymore. Even though Circle has bought them out, there doesn't seem to be much signs of improvements.

Has anybody gone through their entire verification in the last couple days? I would greatly appreciate if someone described the whole process, what do they require in steps, or just link to a post that describes it somewhere (I couldn't find)

I have tried going through it but my profile says "Pending Review" since May 27.

Basically you fill out your name, address and phone number and then provide front and back image of identity document (passport or drivers license), and then provide a selfie.

Tried to read the posts in this thread to decide if I will go with the verification process of just leave Poloniex for good and upon reading comments, some got their accounts back while some accounts are still frozen. Question is if Poloniex is still worth the effort to go through that process when there are other exchange sites with better services. I guess I'll just leave it as is for now until I find a good reason to go through that KYC process.
Their KYC process as of now do already requires a photo of your face with a poloniex word behind it or just simply a time stamp on it. If you can barely do such thing for verification then this wont be an issue.Processing would always been pain in the ass but Polo should really make better this time if they would really like to retain their reputation. They should improve as should be.

Today my Poloniex a/c was frozen telling me to complete verification.  I have a good amount of BTC there.  Tried the verification a few times but it doesn't go through... any tips?

If your application is pending review for over a day, then it probably means that they are just currently flooded with requests right now and aren't ready to process yours in time. Apparently, some people have got their's in way less than a day's time.

If it hasn't been processed for more than say, a week, then you should probably start messaging support and ask them what is wrong.

I'd just like to say though that without a legacy account on which people are able to trade without verification, there is virtually no reason to use poloniex anymore. Even though Circle has bought them out, there doesn't seem to be much signs of improvements.

Apparently, for Poloniex, legacy account means you have no control over your funds anymore unless you verify. So basically either send in your documentation or forget about the crypto you have deposited there. Have to say that's kind of lame, especially since they have explicitly said they won't disable withdrawals for legacy accounts.

https://poloniex.com/press-releases/2017.12.27-Notice-to-legacy-account-holders/

Quote
The exact date for this deadline will be announced in Q1 2018

Um nope, didn't happen, they announced nothing.

Quote
While you will be given advance notice before this requirement goes into effect

Again, nope, no notice was given.

Yeah, we saw how that panned out.
Personally, i have some ETH there and feel it would be kinda stupid to just leave it to them so i will probably cave and go through the verification process, get my money and forget about that exchange. Will sure demand that they delete my personal data as well after i'm done (which i'm sure they'll do /s). In the end it's all my fault, i completely forgot about that 6 months old press release. Should have withdrew my crypto immediately. Oh well, another day, another lesson learned.

Avoid this place like the plague. If I get my coins back I will never use a centralized exchange again, especially one that wants documentation - it's just not worth the risk or hassle.

Almost all the top exchanges requires a KYC verification, so I guess you have no choice but to stick with what you've said and just rely on decentralized ones.
The current situation right now is, if you chose centralized - be prepared on the endless verification while for the other one, you need to buckle up for a ride of maintenance and slow performance.

What maintenance and slow performance are you referring to - on Poloniex I presume? It is super slow (4 hours for a deposit, 8 hours no reply from support & 2 out of 3 wallets disabled for weeks) - I've never had this problem on any decentralized exchange.

No, that was for the decentralized exchanges. Idex- common maintenances , Etherdelta - slow performance speed.
For the record, I don't use poloniex so I cannot really relate on your matter.

What I have said, is based on my own experience using a centralized (ex. binance ) and a decentralized (idex & ED).

Time to leave centralized exchanges guys. This KYC thing will ruin everything and spread like a disease. You either support dex's or lose your funds to these thieves. Choice is yours as always.

Cryptobridge and bisq are good places to start your journey. No KYC, no verification, no problems.

Maybe because people were withdrawing their money. Send them emails, post on their twitter. Do everything you can so they can't just ignore us.

I am still getting the "Attention Required" verification status, even after submitting the requested docs.

What kind of photo have you submitted? I suspect that the system has rejected mine.

Thank you!

Was the same for me, after some time the 'Attention Required' badge disappeared but i still could not place orders or initiate withdrawals.
After several hours I finally was able to use my account normally again.

I sent them photos taken with my mobile, stripped exif, jpeg compression around 75 (gimp) and reduced resolution (~700x1200px). every info necessary i clearly visible tough.

My guess is the systems need some time to sync...

Just for update guys.
My account was FROZEN suddenly yesterday, so i started the account verification and got it quickly, took about 5 minutes.
Even with verified account i was still frozen and not able to trade or witdraw.
I sent ticket but got no answer past 24h.

For my surprise, logged at poloniex now and my account come back to normal.
So i gues that some cases you just need to verify your account by sending your ID and selfie and wait some hours.

I'm a verified user, but I have to say that this exchange is the absolute worst. Their verification process is useless & you are forced to jump through burning hoops & hassle support to get the thing done. This is the only centralized exchange I use & from my experience with them so far it will be my last. I only use them for 3 coins & currently all 3 of those wallets are disabled - including their BTC wallet.

I also have a missing BTC deposit from 8 hours ago that is confirmed on the network with no reply from support.

Avoid this place like the plague. If I get my coins back I will never use a centralized exchange again, especially one that wants documentation - it's just not worth the risk or hassle.

Edit: Their BTC wallet has come back online & my missing deposit has arrived. No reply from support still though.

I still wouldn't recommend this exchange to anyone & am clearing out my funds - when the other 2 wallets come back online that is. If they ever do.

I've also experienced the same thing, I just do the requested verification and after a few days no change on my account, then next I complained by making a ticket there, after the talk with support and asked to provide proof and I just do as they ask and finally my account back again and my funds can be withdrawn. After everything is done now I have left the poloniex and switched to some of the exchanges.

You should have honestly known that this was coming, because at the start of the year in January poloniex already issued some statements saying that legacy accounts will no longer be able to trade without verification.

By "not going through", do you mean that your verification was rejected, or that poloniex is just ignoring your verification altogether?

In both scenarios, you will need to let support know. There doesn't seem to be much of a delay with verification requests right now, so I suspect that your case is probably the former. Perhaps try telling them to verify you manually, or something like that.

My verification went through aswell but my account is frozen too.

If I were into that circumstances, I will be disappointed with the exchange site's support administrators. Because they hamper the busy people's expectations to gain profit for purchasing coins for their trading plans. With regards to the frozen account, I think you need to wait until such time the support admins will attend your concerns.

Today my Poloniex a/c was frozen telling me to complete verification.  I have a good amount of BTC there.  Tried the verification a few times but it doesn't go through... any tips?

I've also experienced that with yobit last year, but it has been verified after 7 to 8 hours of waiting. The tips that I can provide you is, you should wait and be patient, because there were times that your transaction is not that fast to confirm as expected due to miner issues. Probably there's a problem with their exchange site that's why those frozen verification occurs, so you better contract their support group for this issues and I am confident that you will be attended immediately.

Have had a ticket open for 150 days regarding their BS verification process with zero response. Had hopes the Circle acquisition might help but it hasn’t made any difference.

Real assholes for locking all these accounts on a Sunday over a holiday weekend.

looks like they're having the final cull of old accounts. considering their toxic attitude to 'legacy' accounts if i had one i would've closed it anyway.

i guess the frozen will have to wait until the backlog is cleared. poloniex have no excuse to freeze you after verifying, looks like they did it anyway.

but it also sounds like long verified accounts are getting frozen too. despite their big bucks poloniex aren't doing much about the welfare of their customers.

This is insane! Also got my legacy-account locked. I had tried to get verified in the past but after a while the verification process was simply aborted without notice so i finally accepted my non-verified status as the way to go with polo.

Polo won't even let me place orders within their ecosystem effectively confiscating all i got there... strange policy, i would at least have expected to get a notification for such measures...  Angry

Do they think there are not other exchanges now that they got adopted by circle?

update: The forced verification went through (profile-page says i'm verified) in minutes for me but sadly, the account remains frozen even afterwards.

update2: finally de-frozen after several hours  Roll Eyes

Don't put any amount of bitcoin or even tokens and altcoins in exchange that you will never have done yet the verifications it may causes a problem soon if you are going to withdraw your fund on that said exchange site.

OP, all you have to do is just wait or just contact there support team regarding that matter but it takes more time to wait.

Poloniex is one of the trusted exchange they have many clients to fix a daily problem I think you should wait.
But personally I tell you, I never used this site.
