Yeah,

it's windows, and it could most likely be a firewall issue.
Since this isn't MY computer per se...
I don't really want to disable anything if I don't have to,
couldn't I just make an exception for the port in the firewall?

On what OS are you trying to mine, linux of windows? In case of windows, disable your firewall and see if it helps. If no, it's a probably a problem with your syntax.

Oh,

I was trying to mine Dogecoin with pooler cpuminer 2.3.2,

I am able to mine Litecoin with Scryptminer, but that uses port 80,
which is almost always open from my understanding,

I keep thinking maybe it's a port issue... but maybe cause I'm a noob.

Hello,

I'm trying to connect to a mining pool, but I get this error:

Stratum connection failed:  failed connect to :; no error

What does "no error" mean?

My best guess this is something to do with the port not being available?

I'm not sure though...

Checked in cmd with netstat -a, and could not see that the specified port was listening...
but not sure if that has any relation to my problem or not.

Anybody want to give me a gentle shove in the right direction?
