Nope Bitcoin never will be. 95% of this being based on my idea that we will never ever see a world wide money system.

I think it could be a viable part of it however.

I think it will become the new standard within the next 5 years. I already see a lot of digital goods venders accepting it nowadays.

I also see many goods venders accepting BTC, Corealz. But I think 5 years is a little optimistic, I'm not sure the world is ready for BTC.
I'd say that if bitcoins keep going it is likely to get to our desired level in about 10 years I'd say.

I have been buying things with BTC thru many online vendors.  The list is growing.   I think bitpay and them should advertise more to all others and we would see more and more bTC accepting vendors.

I don't think it will.
But, I think that there will be a money system in place that resmbles Bitcoin in the future.

It won't be bitcoin, but it will be a "clone" of Bitcoin!

I don't think it will be the world's currency, used instead of fiat in every country, but I think this will be the most used way of payment on the Internet, and maybe widely used by average guys in shops, but this won't be the only way of payment. If Bitcoin is accepted in shops, there will always have a possibility to pay in cash, or at least in fiat money using credit cards.

Bitcoin, in my opinion, will probably not replace other means of transaction entirely, but will probably become more widespread in the future. It will be accepted almost anywhere items can be bought and sold, though will always be considered an "alternative" way of purchase.

We just need everybody to use, hence some country to use it as official payment method,
then it smooth sailing from there.

Agree with you there.

Wish it would maybe one day it will.

Heck in the US.  People seem to use credit or debit instead of cash.  So maybe it will one day switch to btc over credit.   Lol

I beleive in a way it already is the worlds currency.

What else can you trade between pretty much any currency?

You can take BTC and trade it anywhere.  Not only that shops online, and not online are starting to accept it.

So its on its way to the top.  I already prefer BTC over USD.  Just wish I could use it everywhere.  Maybe someday we will be able to.

I said YES. Of course it may take some time, actually it may take 20 years or even more but Bitcoin will be the world's money system in the future.

Can I make some questions to you? I have my answers for every question I will do but I would to know the thoughts that the others have about those. So how imagine you will be a world without the normal money and only with bitcoin (if this is the meaning of your post). If bitcoin will be for sure the world's future money system and there will not exist other kind of money how will be able you to buy out of internet? How will covered all the need of every country which will be always in increase and the bitcoin is limited in amount? Do you think that bitcoin is able to cover all the needs of all the countries of the world for money? Why all this replacement of all the money with bitcoin will last 20 years or more and not less? naturally you have the right to not answer at no one of my questions. But if will do, thanks.

Bitcoin is already a money system though. For the world to be able to use bitcoin there needs to be a mass adaption to bitcoin.
If this doesn't happen then not many merchants are going to accept bitcoin as payment.

Bitcoin is already a money system. People have been using it for quite sometime now. If you mean by "future money system" as in more people will start using it in the future, then I say yes.
I just think that Bitcoin needs more commercial success, there are still people out there who don't know what Bitcoin is and they don't know about the potential and the good side about bitcoin.

I'll say YES, bitcoin has I the need to be "future money system".

Sometimes it is funny to read various post made here in bitcointalk. Like the above quoted by me. Absolutely not for him's English. I know that me myself am problematic sometimes to be understood with my English. Even not in the above level I think (I hope). But if the meaning of the above post would be "bitcoin has the need to be "future money system" and for this the poster write with capital letters a big "YES" I would want to ask him one simple "Why"? Why bitcoin has the need to be the future money system? Can you you give some argument about this your big affirmation with the big and capital letters?

You say yes with capital letters. Where do you find and base this conviction? What I don't know and you know that make you so secure in your conviction? Can you show that what your know here?

Please make post with meaning. It is not hard to put some words and to create a sentence. It is hard to give something that can make the readers to think or to encourage them to write something else affected by your posts. Bitcointalk need the lasts ones.

I agree with you. I think Bitcoin will coexist side by side normal currencies. Although it is still hard to imagine government actually allowing Bitcoin to mainstream. Unregulated nature of it can cause some issues.

I would like to go a bit deeper.

Bitcoin is essentially a descentralized trust system. What does it mean if I pay a Bitcoin to you? It means that I'm giving you a digitally-signed letter that says: "I am trusting you that you give me a product or service which, for me, has the same value as the actual price of a Bitcoin."

It isn't so much a currency, because a currency is meant to be a stable indicator of prices and for this reason it is backed by a state or another large entity.

But based on the Bitcoin/cryptocurrency system, a large part of the financial instruments needed by the economy can "go descentralized", because they are all needing this "trust" component Bitcoin provides. In many aspects this is much more efficient that the traditional banking system. Digital payments and savings accounts - basically, what Bitcoin Core provides you - are only a little part of the possible uses. Systems like the Bitcoin extension Counterparty, or "altcoins" like Nxt, Bitshares or Ethereum allow you to use cryptocurrency for other financial instruments like loans, stocks / assets, crowdfunding, and distinct types of financial contracts.

So for me it's a matter of time that these descentralized financial instruments increase the market share in the financial world. I don't know if it will replace it, but I am pretty sure cryptocurrencies will play a major role in 5-10 years, and it is useless that governments take action against it (they should even embrace it, if not autocratic).

It is possible, however, that in 30-50 years cryptocurrencies will be obsolete again.

It's too far away to say bitcoin can replace any of local currencies / fiat currency / be the world future money system.

I really can't say, but to be honest I feel it's no probably cause it'd take a lot of countries to accept Bitcoin without having legal doubts and taxation uncertainties. Bitcoin started as an experiment and has grown far from it initially was and I believe it'll be a good asset to invest in for a long term, similar to what gold is today or probably better as time goes by. It would involve a lot of turnaround for it to be substituted completely to a countries fiat currency.

You're right, I don't think the bitcoin will be accepted worldwide, hell it's not even accepted right now in Russia

Even if this does happen, it will take year and years, I'll probably be dead by then

Honestly the deflationary aspect of bitcoin is untested. Assuming your currency is deflating, won't one just wait until the price is cheaper before making a purchase? This incentives people to hoard rather than use it as a currency.

No, as it won't be an official international currency that everyone will use, but I believe it will become widely known and used, like PayPal. Except better. Way better.

It is already the major cryptocurrency and I believe it will stay that way until someone develops a "better" coin. This can be achieved as bitcoin is basically a code that is encrypted with some cool encryption and an awesome idea. If someone comes up with a better economic idea and even cooler encryption, say bye to Bitcoin.

Bitcoin also needs to change to adapt to new ASCIS and technology. But with no Satoshi to lead us, bitcoin will stay the same.

Not the way it's going!  If Bitcoin doesn't change as quickly as our technology is changing, it doesn't even have a chance.  However, the technology and the reasoning behind the project will definitely produce a major alternative cryptographic digital decentralized currency that will be used world wide and I don't care whose emperor disagrees with that fact.  It wont be Bitcoin that controls the market....it will be Bitcoin's cousin, no doubt.

I've said this before but I'll share it here. I don't think we want BTC to become the world's money system. The people in this world that have power, seek power, and manipulate the system either for their benefit (in monetary terms) or to make a name for themself will find a way to do it to Bitcoin.

We don't want the powers that be sitting in a room figuring out how they can control Bitcoin. But if Bitcoin becomes the world's money system that's EXACTLY what we'll have.

Let's let Bitcoin be the money/commodity system of alternative that Governments are OK with having operate alongside their existing, powerful, never weak fiat systems.  Kiss

BTC has become so much famous and popular in so much less time. People have been using it thoroughly now and people are earning it through trading or mining.
I do believe that bitcoins will become the future money system because of their flexibility and optionality it provides. It has proven itself to be a safe currency and is now used in many countries for transactions, though it is illegal in some countries but many countries have accepted it as a global currency. So, I think will be the world's future money system.

Don't underestimate the power of technology in this day and age. Innovative technology and the internet will make sure that if something is as good as it says, people will learn about it really quick.

Compare it to the internet adoption, took 20-30 years til we started using it properly, now with the help of the internet the same could be done with bitcoins, just so much faster. The only distractions at the moment are laws and the government. But that will clear itself out soon anyway.

You are right about technology, but bitcoin isn't just technology but wealth and power as well, and we shouldn't underestimate greed and hunger for power on the government/bankster side. Those guys doesn't like things what they can't control.

I think it will become the new standard within the next 5 years. I already see a lot of digital goods venders accepting it nowadays.
Bitcoins can never be standardized in real market.Everyone knows its drawbacks.
That's why Big guns like google, facebook doesn't take much interest in cryptocurrencies. All of them are waiting to see where it goes.
I don't think big guns are quite afraid of investing into cryptos. They are still carefully monitoring the ecosystem and can anytime take a big step into it. We have already seen that companies like Microsoft and some other big names have started to accept bitcoin. Other companies won't stay behind, bitcoin has a huge potential and anytime can be the future of money system.

Honestly speaking bitcoins can be the world's future money system but the sadest thing is that it can never replace a major currency and it would be always used as a secondary currency, if bitcoins hits the mainstream than it would surely be the future money system and the mainstream adoption would play a key role in the success or failure of bitcoins.

You must define what does it mean that "bitcoin will be the world's future money system". If you, with this wish or definition, mean the disappear of all the other currencies and the substitution of all those with bitcoin, you are in big wrong according to me. There are not possibilities to be true such things for various reasons. First the number of bitcoin is not enough to cover all the needs of the world for money. Second bitcoin have a fixed number as total amount and this cannot allow to satisfy the needs of every economy in grow to have the needed money for this growth. Second and the most important any country will accept as national currency a currency not owned by it. The most important and developed ones firsts.  Can be even other reasons that I can't remember right now, but are enough the above to tell that your good dream cannot be true.

Bitcoins can never be standardized in real market.Everyone knows its drawbacks.
That's why Big guns like google, facebook doesn't take much interest in cryptocurrencies. All of them are waiting to see where it goes.

I don't understand why the poll even exists here, I'd say most people on this forum think the same, else they wouldn't be here.

Well, believe in bitcoin but I don't think it will be "world's future money system". At first I think the world not going to have a unified monetary system in the next few centuries. If it will happen at some point in the future, money will be still issued and controlled by the government or some corporations. Bitcoin (or it's successor) will remain an open alternative to whatever money will be used by that time or just a collectors item Smiley.

For me it's a big YES, the potential it had gain over the course of the years it's unique and there's no similar thing on this matter plus base on comments of some of the well known speakers of the bitcoin community, if other fiat or even money systems fail at some point, bitcoin will still be there to pick up the pieces  Wink

poll is used to find the most votes. quite useful to make quick conclusions with the word "yes" or "no".
