You do have a point there about porn instead of abusing women. Powerful people know this and I believe that is the motivation behind pushes to ban pornography. They know that it leads to more abuses of women and they want that.
I've seen Two Girls One Cup. Not all the money in the world will make that turn me on, much less consider that as what the majority want! LOL
I don't believe that society as a whole will think of the various porn categories as "good" - especially if they also happen to be cruel. Take for example, child abuse porn, which I believe (and hope) a lot of people would be repulsed with. There are some people out there who would pay for it, as shown by materials from raids. It's more probable that the tendency already existed in those people, and it just happened that someone sadly finally addressed (and made money out of) it.
As for banning porn, it usually seem to be associated with fundamentalist leanings. The "Bible belt" in the US actually have more porn searches than other parts of the country. I'm not sure they are doing that to increase abuse of women (though they'll probably say banning porn is to protect women). More like maintaining "gender norms".
