Damn, dreams crushed. Guess it's good I didn't make it to any of the villages today. I wasn't aware that "Square Market" was a separate thing, or that they even provided any services other than their card reader and app. Thanks for pointing that out, franky1.

their square market place (online web store) accept BTC. not to be confused with the payment processor brick and mortar store use

this is like someone saying they can use bitcoins on ebay (because they are the same company) then people getting confused that any bricks and mortar store with a paypal logo also accept it..

i am wondering when people will start reading properly and not exaggerate the news

I'm sure Portlanders have noticed many of the food carts around town using Square for credit/debit transactions. The article says square pays them with USD after receiving the Bitcoin transaction; I can't really see any reason why the food carts would refuse Bitcoin payment. I'm going to try to hit a food cart village today and see what happens.

I'm interested - Give us your results.  If you get the chance, check out whiffies (they already took btc show them some love)
