PoS coins don't require GPUs or ASIC miners, so they are much better in energy saving.
I agree with you mate. It is simple as that, POS is more environmental friendly compare to POW.
It isn't the end all algorithm, initial distribution is what is needed for PoS to work correctly on a network, you need many inputs for staking to be a healthy and a consistent part of the network.
In this time of Bitcoin & Altcoins people don't really dive into buying mining hardware as much as they once did and insist on getting free coins or buying coins from exchanges or ICO's since they can't mine due to the initial cost and constant cost of upgrading to newer hardware.
Remember satoshi's ideology about Bitcoin being mineable on normal everyday computers, well it is in the case of a gamer
(The GPU inside the Tower/Case) as GPU's can be used for more than just mining and can be reused when new algorithms come out, these days they are more energy efficient & memory hard than ever.
