Here we are about three jumps into the new 1/2 ing

so far no major riots near the warehouse.  That is a relief.

We shut down all the s9s

we have 1.2 ph in 40 pieces of mixed gear.

all run at 60 watts or less

the ware house owner has 10 working s17pro units. all had to clock to normal due to heat. just about 525 th

so grand total 1.725 ph I guess we avg under 50 watts.

a couple of gpu rigs

and we shut down the l3+  since ltc has dropped in price and risen in diff.

I know there are far more efficient ltc miners out there then the l3 the l5  and the a10

I was offered to preorder 2gh ltc miners using only 1200 watts. I suspect these are mining now which

dropped ltc price and lowered my ltc daily earnings from .5 ltc to .3 ltc

So I have 23 idle l3+ units. I have 28 idle s9 units  I converted 7 to braiins low power heaters sold them off. I have 3  changed into mystery hashboard s9 miners so only 18 intact idle s9 units.

As for covid-19 I and my wife tested negative for antibodies.  But i have found that the antibody test only works well for 1-2 months after you have had disease.

Since I was sick from Jan 1 to Jan 25 and my wife was sick from Dec 31 to Feb 20 there is a very real possibility we had it and cleared the antibodies from out system.

There is a long thread on reddit about this.

short version is your body can not and should not hold every antibody it has ever made.
it would very likely cause immunity disorders like arituis . So antibodies clear at different speeds.

the guess is 1/2 life for covid-19 is 3 weeks.

so for my wife
    march 12=50%
    april.     2=25%
    april.   23=12.5%
    may.    14= 6.25%
    june.      4= 3.125%
june.     16 test day.   would drop her under 2%

I would be lower as I got better  3 weeks sooner.

the good thing is you body has memory cells which should remember how to make the correct antibody
if you are exposed to covid-19 again

the common cold is a good example of this.

enough for the science 🧬 lesson.

back to mining ⛏

we have the smaller 1 acre array at buy solars house
the ware house is on hold for a solar build out until after election in november

as all of us fear more unrest until election happens.

this summer we are going to mine and hold.

i may get two pieces of gear.

m30s
m31s

and nothing else.

... so things don't look pretty for the average joe who pays a ton for power, there will most likely be a drop in difficulty as a post-halving effect, some of these gears might be profitable for a little while, but it's a matter of a few months till they become not anymore, I am sorry if this sounds like fud or anything, I know you know too well to be needing my advice, but this more like a piece of general advice to other newbies, if you don't efficient gears, plan accordingly before it's too late.

Yeah I'm not expecting the M10's to have a long life. In reality a few months of profitability is great, as it brings me back to my winter mining, which can pretty much start in October... Uuuugghh just disgusted myself a little. The M20s, is a different story, as i figure it will be a profitable miner until around January or so barring anything extreme. I have to play around with it and see but with LPM available as well it may just make it into the house this winter as well. Leading into the fall, I have some tough decisions to make whether I remain a year round miner or not. I still enjoy it and have learned a ton from it, but I may be resigned to being a cold month guy. The M20S debaucles that I faced last year in delays and then this year in shit support provided by Pangolin really hurt my plans but nothing is set in stone.

So covid-19 and riots are bigger issue then the ½ ing.

I was actually discussing with someone your solar setups a few weeks ago. I couldn't imagine watching and waiting as all this goes on around you and your investments. Best of luck as I know it was bad enough for you and yours trying to mitigate Covid. Your business plan is great, as the government subsidies for you host partners solar is like adding in a revenue stream which under normal circumstances helps you continue to drive forward.

my 28 s9's are coming out of the loop

I made some into low power "space" heaters.

They are quiet and use 300-500 watts a unit.

My deal works  with any gear 60 watts or less.

½ the coins go to me and  buysolar the other ½ the coins go to the warehouse guy and his son.

He is better off if all the gear is under 40 watts
I am better off if I buy cheaper less efficient gear.

I balance the gear.

10 s9's are still running 18 are off.

I replaced the 18 s9's with 2 s17pros and 1 t17+

dropped about 190th in s9's and gained about 160th in better gear. net drop in hash of 30th

I had a dead mono cpu setup in the warehouse and my second m20s died.

They will be repaired and I will bring them back to the warehouse.

I was pretty well prepared for the ½ ing

the covid-19 pandemic
the race riots  .  I am not as ready for.

Our warehouse is in Clifton NJ  closer to areas that are having looting and riots.

If I wake up with a phone call telling me the warehouse was attacked and looted .

I could lose  1800th of BTC gear.
I could lose     10gh of LTC gear.
I could lose    12gpus for mining
I could lose      2 pc's
I could lose multiple pdus ,switches , routers.

This gear is all paid off

you could say buying 30 units 15 t19 and 10 t17+ gives you  the btc hash back

and you would be a little better off power wise

that is about 40k not counting trump tax.

I would think my loss of gear would push  60k

assuming the warehouse guy wants to still mine if that disaster happens.

So covid-19 and riots are bigger issue then the ½ ing.

If I was only dealing with   ½ ing I would have ordered at least 1 or 2 t19 units.

Shut off the rest of the s9's and mine on.

be constructive or S.T.F.U
M10s are nearly as efficient as an underclocked S9, well 70w vs 65w, so sadly I doubt it will be profitable anymore, gears with =< 30w/th are about to come online, people with 2-3 cent power still run 70-90w/th gears, people with free power still run ( and will for a very long time) => 90w/th gears, pretty soon the difficulty will adjust to accommodate all these different classes, and as usual, people who pay 6 cents and above will have to be closer to the most efficient gears rather than the opposite, I think in 4-5 months you will be forced to mine with at 45w/TH or something close to that, even your M20s will be at risk if the price of BTC doesn't spike fast enough.

Sad enough, demand on S9s in China seems to have increased ( probably due to the rainy season which is starting soon and people get pretty cheap power rate), surprisingly it's cheaper to buy S9 in the U.S than in China, saw an offer for $25 in the U.S, while the Chinese are still maintaining the 40-50 levels, so things don't look pretty for the average joe who pays a ton for power, there will most likely be a drop in difficulty as a post-halving effect, some of these gears might be profitable for a little while, but it's a matter of a few months till they become not anymore, I am sorry if this sounds like fud or anything, I know you know too well to be needing my advice, but this more like a piece of general advice to other newbies, if you don't efficient gears, plan accordingly before it's too late.

For me it was an easy decision and plan to implement. First opportunity I had post halving I shutdown my M20S - annoyingly as it sat idle for so long. Then a day or so later when we broke our 10 degree weather I shut down the 2 M10's that are running. I'm giving them and my now full cost utility meter a nice rest for an epoch or 2. While I let Diff and price find some sort of balance that works for me. The m10 is at this moment not profitable for me to run, which was expected. I have 9 days off coming up so it's great timing for a little TLC, and garage relocation.
This will be a first as I'm usually trying to do this in a rush minimizing downtime for the sake of a few bits. The agenda is take the fans off and blow out each miner, none are reporting any operating errors so I won't bother going deeper than that. The M10 that's down will get a PSU swap and hopefully that solves it's issue.

Like I said my decision was easy, I mine out of my home and have no contractual obligations. Hell even if the M10 remains unprofitable for me, which I do not expect, I can always run them in the winter. They are the perfect units for that.  That's not everyone's case some have land and infrastructure built around mining and others have hosting deals which may no longer be profitable. It's not like reliable vacancies were easily available so not all host sites offer a great rate. So where do you fall and what are your plans?
