Don't make them overheat.

Some dude burned an Nvidia 780, check out the cudaminer thread.

I'd stay away from mining this coin.

Here is what I have now.   My cards don't get hot with this config at all but I wish I could get the hash rate up some without them overheating.

Code:
"intensity" : "13",
"auto-fan" : true,
"gpu-threads" : "1",
"worksize" : "256",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "6720",
"shaders" : "1280",
"temp-target" : "77",
"temp-overheat" : "80",
"temp-cutoff" : "85",
"scrypt-vert" : true,
"device" : "0,1"

Now if I use "gpu-threads" : "2" both cards go over 80c but if I use "gpu-threads" : "1", they don't overheat.

Well, I only have the heat problem when using "gpu-threads" : "2", if I use "gpu-threads" : "1", I get lower kh/s rate but the temperatures never go above 76c.

No, I don't have risers yet, why I only have two GPU's on the motherboard at the moment.  Waiting for cables to get here to add the other card and raise these two up.

I'll try the other settings once I get the risers hooked up and will just mine at 165 kh/s each until then.

Thank you for the help.

Stop mining and undervolt your cards with VBE7 http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/vbe7-vbios-editor-for-radeon-hd-7000-series-cards.189089/

Also, increase the fan speed.

"gpu-fan" : "70-100",
"temp-target" : "70",
"temp-overheat" : "75",
"temp-cutoff" : "80",

If you feel like it, maybe replace the thermal paste on that card.

Are those cards too close and you aren't using a riser? You need a large fan, then.

You can't mine like that, way too hot. See if Gpu-Z or HwInfo64 sensors show the other temperatures.

Thanks, that helped me out a lot.

I couldn't use:

Code:
"gpu-engine" : "1080",
"gpu-memclock" : "1500",

My GPU1 got too hot and crashed but I was getting exactly 230 khs for the brief time it lasted.

So I backed down to:

Code:
"gpu-engine" : "975",
"gpu-memclock" : "1400",

As you can see, my GPU1 still gets real hot compared to GPU0.  I am unsure why that is though, maybe air circulation issue.  IDK

This is what I have now.

I think I should back down a little more though because that card seems to be awfully hot but thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Code:
"intensity" : "13",
"auto-fan" : true,
"gpu-threads" : "2",
"worksize" : "256",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "6720",
"temp-target" : "77",
"temp-overheat" : "80",
"temp-cutoff" : "85",
"shaders" : "1280",
"gpu-engine" : "975",
"gpu-memclock" : "1400",
"scrypt-vert" : true,
"device" : "0,1"

Ok, I will try that.

Id been testing and had come up with this which has been my best result without a crash so far.   I did have them up to about 200 khs each with 1020 engine and 1500 mem but had to back down after the gpu's crashed...

Code:
"intensity" : "13",
"auto-fan" : true,
"worksize" : "256,256",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "6720,6720",
"temp-target" : "77,77",
"temp-overheat" : "80,80",
"temp-cutoff" : "85,85",
"shaders" : "1280,1280",
"gpu-engine" : "975,975",
"gpu-memclock" : "1400,1400",
"scrypt-vert" : true,
"device" : "0,1"

You shouldn't use -g 1 with my config. Either use -g 2 or use
vertminer.exe  -g 1 --failover-only
on the command line

and
"gpu-threads" : "2",
in the config

Now I have reverted to this.   Trying to make it more simple so I can understand what I am doing adding new settings to the config from here.

I tried using Wipeouts config settings a few threads above mine since he has the same cards, but nope, they won't work for me.

Code:
"intensity" : "13",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"auto-fan" : true,
"worksize" : "256",
"thread-concurrency" : "6333",
"temp-target" : "77",
"temp-overheat" : "80",
"temp-cutoff" : "85",
"scrypt-vert" : true,
"device" : "0,1"

What I am mostly confused about is, I can use a specific config fine and stop the miner, and when I run the miner again that previous config doesn't get the same results as it did before and sometimes won't even work.

So I can't understand why that is, I thought that was the whole point of having a config.

If anyone could help me with this I would appreciate it.   I am not understanding why I get different results with my .config settings.

For example I can get 179 kh/s one time, then can't get over 159 kh/s the next and can never seem to get the 179 kh/s again even though the config doesn't change and nothing else is changed or used on the system.

I'm running Windows 7 on an ASRock Z87 mobo with 8GB RAM and have (2) R9 270's GIGABYTE GV-R927OC-2GD working now.

These are the config settings I am using.  I have tried several others but reverted back to this for now until someone can help point me in the right direction to where my issue is.

I have tried some of the other miners who have the same cards configs but they don't work for me and I my GPU's don't even hash at the same rate using them so I am a little confused and need some help getting my cards working optimal.

Thanks in advance.

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
COLOR 0A
timeout /t 4

not possible man.. have this card, had it on 72 khs.. tried your settings, its quite better.. went to 79, but deffinitelly not 180 Cheesy
that is performance at scrypt.. this is n factor scrypt..

Good! Thx for your config, but I'm getting too many HW errors for my R9 270, Which model is yours?. Here is my ccnfig.

Since the hashrate and settings are different than scrypt mining, I figured it might be good to get an idea of what we can expect from our GPUs and what the optimal settings are..  I'll start:

R9 270:
~180 Kh/s
Aleks cgminer
-I 18 -w 512 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 12000

R9 290:
~400 Kh/s
Aleks cgminer
-I 18 -w 512 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 26000
