Power supplies are responsible for converting 120/240V AC from the wall to 12V DC for miners to run on. The most common power connectors for miners is using 6-pin PCIe connectors to power the hashboards. Power supplies are rated for a certain wattage, and can typically be used to power more than 1 miner as long as A) they are rated for enough draw total and B) they are either single rail or you do not overload each rail.  There are ATX (computer form-factor) power supplies and there are server power supplies, the latter need to be adapted using breakout boards available on this site and elsewhere to get PCIe cables adapted to it.

I see miners sold without power supplies.  Is it difficult to install them if I bought one without the supply and then bought the supply?  Do I need specific supplies for specific units?
