You are clearly running out of power... You are not accounting for the power consumed by the processor, HDD and motherboard and other components. Try with at least 2 x 750 watt PSUs this way will have headroom and your system won't crash. Your system crashing is a sign of your system not enough power...

I asked because yesterday tried to connect a 550w with cards.
One power supply connected on B slot on Asus B250 motherboard. The motherboard has other seperated 550w power supply.

With the second power supply works only 1 GPU, if I connect a second card and starts the mining process the system shuts down, why?? Maybe needs some settings?

The system shuts down only if I start te mining process!!!

It is important to select your power supply based in what other hardware you will add to your case, because if OP want to add a video card, then he will need a bigger power supply... By the way, a 1600W is just too much power, i have an 800W supply and with that my electricity bill goes to sky from $15/month to $40/month.

If you have a computer that draws only 250W with its components nothing will change on your power bill if you put a 400W or a 1800W power supply, the 1800Wis the maximum it can offer (in theory) not the amount it consumes continuously.

Anyhow, OP, cheapen for a few $ on a power supply and you might regret it tenfolds.

what @HeRetiK said, The only thing I will add is that I wouldn't say the efficiency plummets but rather drops by a few points. Having a higher capacity means your PSU won't be stressed even if you mine 24/7... which usually means a longer lifespan. Also, I will suggest you look into server PSUs, you can get your hands on them for half the price of what a branded PSU might cost, All of my rigs were powered with server PSUs and none failed on me. Look on Alibaba and aliexpress, you will have to buy a PSU board along with the PSU and the 8pin power cables, All these components will cost less than branded PSUs but keep in mind they don't come with any sort of warranty, Try to look for them in your local market that will be your best option if you are running tight on budget.

First of all, because you don't want to cut it too close. A PSU running at or beyond full load is a PSU with a short lifespan that may turn into a PCB BBQ sooner rather than later.

Secondly, most PSUs reach peak efficiency at a load of 40%-60%:

The closer you get to 100% load, the more efficiency plummets. The lower the efficiency of your PSU, the more you're needlessly spending on electricity. The less profitable your mining rig.

Theorically, you need a 1080W (9*120) power supply.
However, practically, you will need a more powerful power supply. That's why you are advised to use a 1600W one. It will provide the needed power to your ASIC without having to run at full capacity which may be harmful for your devices.

Hello everybody,

i have a ASUS B250 Motherboard with 9 GPU's P106-100 6GB, in many websites i am read needs 1600W ATX Power Supply.
Why needs so many Watts? each GPU P106-100 needs max.120W Huh
