That's cutting it too close for the PSU. Besides, there's no need to overclock them now. The difference is literally pennies a day between stock clock and overclocked if you're only running six.

Yup that is cutting it a little close, but then again, I have PSUs that are around about as close as those specs and have been running for months without trouble, and have 2 other PSUs that supposed to have a single 50amp 12v rail each, but you can barely keep them operating at 325MHZ downclock. So sometimes your better guarantee, is to search to see if others are using them.

Ok, So about overclocking.. Do you think a Corsair HX850 would work ok, if the miners weren't overclocked?

There are two ways to check whether a PSU will work, watts alone wont cut it, for example a PSU could have 1300 watts, but only supply 18 amps per 12v rail

Two methods:
1/ read the amps value of the 12v rails ( usually on a sticker on the side of the PSU ), you will need 30 amps per S1, plus some overhead
2/ search around other threads and youtube vids of other miners recommending PSUs.

So for example, a Corsair HX850 outputs 70amps on its single 12v rail, so that may be enough, but the next thing you need to do is see if anyone else has tried it, but searching the forums, and youtube, because not all PSUs perform as their specs say they should.

Hey guys, I'm new to bitcoin mining. I just recently bought 6x Antminer s1' , is it safe to use a Corsair 850 PSU for a pair of Antminers?  I have seen that they run at about 422W(x2@844) when they are overclocked. I plan on overclocking them all, so would it be safe or do you think the pairs will over heat their PSU?  Thanks for the help.
