Have you flashed to the stilts bios? I'm getting about 715 khs out of the same card. It's usually in the 72-75 degree range.

I am a newbie to Mining. I do not know how to flash bios. Appreciate your suggestion.

I too get 740+ Kh/s when I set the GPU clock to 1030/ 1090  but the temp gets high upto 90. http://rumorscity.com/2014/01/02/litecoin-mining-powercolor-radeon-r9-280x-sweet-spot-for-760khashsec/  But I am sticking to GPU clock 880.

As someone here suggested, I set the voltage to 1100 on MSI Afterburner and I am getting around 620 Kh/s & 78 C. I am afraid to push further for more Kh/s due to heat issues. If you are running the miner on windows, can you share your settings?

I'm running on windows with the following settings with sgminer 4.1 and usually run right around 715 khs.

Code:
"api-allow" : "W:127.0.0.1",
"api-listen" : true,
"api-mcast-port" : "4028",
"api-port" : "4028",

lowering the settings is the best bet for you , if at 740kh/s your card reaches 90°c , better avoid it as you may fry your card at higher clocks.

How close are the 2 cards from eachother? Seems like an airflow issue to me

They are both inside the PC tower.

I have one of this >> http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8894539&CatId=114

I downloaded MSI afterburner, but I am unable to find out the option to undervolt.

Any help?

You can try to undervolt your card or use high speed cooling fans . I use Corsair 2000 rpm fans and they reduce temperature by 10 ° C.

I have a small miner with 2 Powercolor 280x GPU's. One of the GPU is getting overheated most of the time ( 83/84) while the other GPU temp is normal at 64/65.

I have the following CG miner (3.7.2 ) settings,

"intensity" : "13",
"vectors" : "1",
"worksize" : "256",
"kernel" : "scrypt",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "8192",
"gpu-engine" : "880",
"gpu-fan" : "60-90",
"gpu-memclock" : "1500",
"temp-cutoff" : "77",
"temp-overheat" : "70",
"temp-target" : "63",
"auto-fan" : true,
"expiry" : "120",
"gpu-platform" : "0",
"gpu-threads" : "2",
"log" : "5",
"no-pool-disable" : true,
"queue" : "1",
"scan-time" : "30",
"scrypt" : true,
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin"
}

How can I reduce/control the temperature?

Appreciate your help.
