these 4x1 splitters are only $65. Sure beats a $200 motherboard/cpu/ram combo

biggest complain then was the $65 splitters were sold out... now 80 in stock order now

i think it is partly a restriction of the operating system (windows 7 can handle 5 GPU and windows 8 can handle 6 IIRC). most linux distros are only capable or 6 GPUs

also, price and redundancy. having common components means its easier to have multiple ~$200 mobo/cpu/ram combinations than a single system with a $200-1000+ expansion device

What is stopping the mining community from coming up with a low cost 16 or 32 slot pcie x1 expansion chassis?

I understand that heat becomes an issue... and packing gpu's like sardines ala the C410x may not be the answer... but why am I not seeing the mining community using using breadboards that can tie 16... 32... 100 GPU's to one CPU?
