The only issue about doing it by yourself would be that u can download the wrong version that contains a virus.
So I recommend to run the bot into sandboxie, which creates a controlled space. If the program is malicious and u ran it in sandboxie it won't damage your pc. Just close sandboxie and done. Of course remove the installation file.

http://www.ownedcore.com/ all the Pokémon bots are available there along with virus scan results. You can also compile your own as there are many sources on github.

And also are you sure it's safe method as you use bots ? You said that the account could being banned , so there is some risk always..
