Thanks. I'll try using an atx powersupply and see if it works better. They do blink like they aren't getting any power from the 12v connector

How much current does a 12V psu need to power one Gridseed blade (40 chip)?
I've used a 5 and 6A brick for testing and it seems to have been hashing just fine but now it just shows 2.06/2.06/0.0Mhs A:0 R:0+0 with bfgminer 5.4.2

The gridminer blade takes about 60-70 watts per blade.  If it’s the one I’m thinking of (little black box about 8 inches long) it consists of two blades. 40 chips each.  You can edit the MHz within bffminer. Might try 750 or under. See if it starts to hash.(make sure to Input MHz number eveninly divisible by 8. Something happens if you don’t and it will throw a ton of errors.  Could be your psu going bad. Or the miner itself. Those ASICS don’t have much run life.

Good advice.   I remember running my blades at 850;  they really didnt put out much heat compared to all the other devices of the era....   best idea is get an old ATX psu and wire up some barrel plugs and power a few of them with it.
