I speculate individuals are thinking that since PPC is about a third as troublesome (coins every day talking) to mine as LTC, it ought to be evaluated in like manner. That would put it around the .002X level; thus the run-up... There's as yet far to go however.

Instead of Facebook (some of us don't use it), can't we use #ppcoin on irc.freenode.net instead? We already have a lot of people there

well we can work out the total network hash rate from what Sunny KIng said.....

"To estimate network hash rate you would need to first get an estimate of current proof-of-work spacing target (in seconds), by counting the number of proof-of-work blocks in the last 24 hours for example. The formula to calculate the total network hash rate is: hash rate = difficulty * 4G / spacing target."

from the PPC wallet getinfo command i can see the current difficulty is at :   22859

i take it 4G is 4 x the proof of work spacing target.... which should be able to be calculated from ppcoinblockexploer.org

hope this gives you something to do while you look for more movies to watch!! Tongue

 Grin Grin Grin Grin

I would rather find someone to help set up another charts site for PPC than watch that shitty movie again.  Cheesy I'll maintain it, I just need help with the barebones code. I received an offer to code it, but for 50 BTC. I don't have that kind of coinage.

So if anyone can help for a considerably less bounty, payable in PPC, and who also wants to further the development of PPC, GET AT ME!!!

Haha well i'll recommend u some movies worth a watch for 50BTC Tongue but i'd love to have a go at building a chart site with u, i am a developer myself and am willing to have a crack at anything... and I have tuppance of BTC so can not afford to put a bounty on this myself, but any donations are appreciate... PM me with your ideas etc, I have space to host the site to, but no money to even buy a domain!! Tongue but i own ppctalk.org so could add to that, and I familiar in parsing JSON etc from API's so we could obtain data from MtGox and bitparking etc.. but not sure where other data was got from... directly from the blockchain?? anyways interested to hear ur thoughts Smiley

.0006X now.  I suspect people are reasoning that since PPC is about a third as difficult (coins per day speaking) to mine as LTC, it should be priced accordingly.  That would put it around the .002X level; hence the run-up... There's still a long way to go though.

but it hasn't been around nearly as long

And it's called Pee Pee Coin.  That should automatically cut the value 75%.  Wink

Does that mean that we're going to experience something like a proof-of-stake euphoria, before everyone gets frustrated about the low pay-off and dumps their coins on the market again?

When did anyone dump coins on the market?

Why would anyone get frustrated?

What low pay-off? The coins I acquired at 0.0001 have quadrupled.. and I won't be selling them off anytime soon.

In fact, I will be spending them in the future hopefully on services that will develop over the next year(s)... certainly not selling.  Cheesy

Keep this in mind: anyone newly acquiring PPC is going to let their coins mature for at least 30 days to try to generate proof-of-stake blocks.

used to be a good chart display here... http://www.proofofstake.com/ but site is down at the moment... Sad I am looking to see if I can reproduce similar graphs on PPCtalk.org... but this will be a while, and would be quicker possibly if the original http://www.proofofstake.com/ owner gets his site back up, but i'll keep u posted on anything I do

Well, there are some heavy hashers at Coinotron and bitparking.

Bitparking top individual hash rate is around 44 GH. If they are doing that with GPU's, that would be one hell of a setup. Shocked

I think that could be some FPGA'S, of course it could be a pool feeding into them.

Coinotron has a 15 GH individual, in the realm of possibility with GPU, but still one hell of a setup.

I run between 5 and 6 GH and that is hard enough to handle between heat and current draw with GPU miners.  Grin

want to know if ASIC miners can be used on PPC?? same algorithms right?? so no reason y not?? just out of interest if this is the case... then potentially one user could 51% attack the alt coins easier??? or am i missing something??

ASIC should be able to mine ppc I don't see why not. Although I am waiting for an actual confirmation from someone with ASIC (dunno if there is anything shipping now) to be 100% sure. I don't yet have a confirmation on whether one of fpga miners works. Although nobody complained about not working either.

As to 51% attack, having >50% mining power of the network is not sufficient to control main chain once the proof-of-stake protection is stable. Right now central checkpoints protect the blockchain as well.

(Troll mode off)

When will this be you presume? Just curious is all.

Hurry up and sell while you can.  This is just a temporary spike.  Though I'm kind of hoping it keeps up since it will distract people from mining Litecoin... that difficulty needs to come down to the 10-12 range.
