as of now pow blocks are 309; 309 per 10 mins; 309*6*24*30 = 1,321,920

is ~1,321,920 not the coins being produced monthly?

The formula is roughly 9999 / ((diff)^(1/4)).. so around 1.5 billion I guess! There aren't as many POW blocks anymore though, many are POS instead.
