So if the money is split say 60/40, the slappee should get the lower 40% and Smith should take the uppercut.
Why would the "slappee" get the lower cut, yet he went through;
1. The pain of the slap
2. The embarrassment
 Grin

Otherwise, I guess it's a blessing in disguise from Chris Rock, and being a gentleman he was that day helped him a lot. I am just imagining how things would have been if he had punched back.

As long as people are ready to spend huge to watch stupid things these kind of people will survive by taking the advantage of the conditions, they are wise but all these people act like stupid isn't it?

As far as I know this slap is real not staged but the negative publicity worked for Chris Rock so he will be trying to do the same trick again if possible. Roll Eyes

I'm glad that Chris Rock is seeing increased sales as a result of this.  The incident with Will Smith no doubt suddenly turned his life into a freak show without his willingness to be a participant.  Chris Rock is way too old to be worrying about people slapping him in the face at the Oscars.  I really think the entire incident took everyone by storm and that's why security didn't jump on Will Smith immediately and why Will wasn't dragged out of the place when he refused to leave.  I'm guessing Chris Rock's stage will look much different going forward with the addition of some large security men between him and the crowd.  I think the security setup at the next Academy Awards is going to appear much different as well.

Chris Rock deserves all the credits. I am sure the joke was not to ridicule the Smiths but he controlled his temper. Will Smith is fortunate that he slapped a gentleman, it would have led to a fight if otherwise. I think it was Rocks composure that is giving him the applause and rise in ticket charge. Maybe a precious punch would have given Chris more fame and wealth.
The slap was unexpectedly and sometimes I keep wondering why he was not that observant to see the reaction on smith faces when he was coming closer to him. The slap was absolutely incredible cause the sound was alarming making people wondered what was really the problem. Was Chris Rock jokes too expensive? Maybe he thought Smith might ignore him but the contrary was the case. Chris Rock popularity had increase to ×50 worldwide.
What a famous slap!

I don’t understand why people care about this at all..

Sooo many clickbait headlines and I read none of them..
Won’t even read this thread..

What are they trying to distract you from?

We have something they call it negative Marketing , some believe in that and some not! Personally hate such a thing but it seems to have made a real impact after this incident!

Chris Rock is a gentleman, even if Will Smith slapped him in front of a million pairs of eyes, he remained professional and continued his show. A lot of people are on Smith's side, but I'm more on Chris Rock's side.

Lucky Rock, how a bad joke could be made good by some magical reaction coming off the Prestigious for making a fool put of himself on stage in defense of family.

While he poses to be a responsible family person (good and defensive husband), he didn't do so well as to being a good societal person. Fortunately for Chris Rock, he got people wondering how he could have gotten to Will Smith that easy that he had to let loose in the presence of the audience.

Anyway, its certainly not easy chewing on an insult and that's what these guys have to go through most days by people they would even consider degenerate (even though they won't admit it) just, to keep them fan base and personality going.

It's quite obvious people have now jettison  morals and values to the alter of Fame. So if not for the slap the increase in the tickets sales and price won't have been possible? Woooow!!

Chris would definitely get Jada's name out of his mouth in coming months, we can only hope Jada would get men of her mouth for Will being such a devoted simp. LOL.

But really, if it wasn't for that incident, I like many people wouldn't even know the Oscars was on. That's why some people speculate it's just a publicity stunt. We'll find out next year if they'll pull something like this again. Maybe they should just turn it into WWE.

Smith should be happy that he wasn't sued over this. Also, he got a statue on that day, so he didn't go home empty handed. That statue also is bald, just like Jada, so it's a win - win situation for both of them. She didn't get anything, but at least her husband made an idiot of himself and got well rewarded despite that. If people weren't laughing at the Smiths before, they will now. There's a lot of memes already and, as we all know, nothing is forgotten in the Internet.

People now joke that he was so upset about them making fun of his wife that they gave him a mini model of her haha!

Chris Rock [...] tickets, which was about forty dollars before the incident, rose to three digits after the Will Smith slap incident.

Which only leaves one question here: How much does Will Smith charge for a slap?

If the slappee receives a huge boost to ticket sales, it seems reasonable that Smith takes the major share of the money. So if the money is split say 60/40, the slappee should get the lower 40% and Smith should take the uppercut.

Which only leaves one question here: How much does Will Smith charge for a slap? Is there an additional surcharge if you want him to swear about you and your mouth? In the world today, everything seems to be for sale. What is the public thinking? "I am so eager to see the bruises that I am going to pay 400 bucks for a first lane seat" or would it be more like "I can't miss out, Will may drop by to finish the job".

Chris Rock has been applauded several times in his first stage comedy since he made headlines with Oscars incident. In the days after the Oscars, the daily sales of Chris Rock performances increased 25-fold, says StabHab, a company that trades and sells tickets. Some people in cyberspace say that the price of tickets, which was about forty dollars before the incident, rose to three digits after the Will Smith slap incident.
