Respect for not running away with clients money, It shows that you are a good book, and because you also realized that money management is very important, that adds on to you being very good. If you guys decide to come back, I will be waiting. Good luck in the future.

Thank you for your suggestion!

After discussing it internally, we think it's an excellent idea and we will implement in our next release. I cannot tell you now what the wages threshold will be but it will be certainly made public when the new version of the website goes live.

Great to hear.

Could we chat on Skype? I have some other things that I would like to discuss with you. If so, please PM me your skype id and I will add you.

Again thanks for your feedback.

Skipping the human verification step would actually save us a significant workload.
We'll keep collecting opinions here and there and if people are willing to take the risk of an error, then we will grade the bets automatically: theoretically, it means players would get their payoffs about half an hour after the end of the game.

An idea on something you can do in order to not have this situation is to automatically grade all events where the total amount placed is less than X amount. This way, all the non-popular events will be graded really fast since they won't have many bets on them, and the most popular ones will be done manually. This way, even if an error on automatic grading happens, you won't lose much money, since the event has a small amount of bets.

I think this could save you lots of man-hours, without risking much.

Thanks for your input!

I think bullets 1) and 3) can be implemented in our next release.
I am not so sure about 2) because of space management reasons (website has to functional from both desktop and mobile).

As for bullet 4), the cashout has been disabled for the time being (it was accessible from the Action drop-down button). Actually, it was functional when we offered only back bets but with the introduction of lay bets, it needs to be reworked to allow not only a full resell of the bet but any fraction (from 0% to 100%) of it. I am not sure if this is clear from the website in its current form.
But anyways, the cashout actually consists in placing a bet in the other way to counter your current position. For example, if you had a back bet on the Home victory, the cashout would place a lay bet on the Home victory with the same "magnitude" but with a cost calculated according to all the wages placed on the market so far. As a result, in practice, you can still cashout "manually" by placing an inverse bet: the cashout option simply made the exact match for you in terms of magnitude and made it clearer for the user.

Edit: Just saw your edit. The results of the fixtures are received automatically but we do require a manual confirmation of it before settling the bets. I understand it is a hindrance for players but if by any chance the result set for the fixture is not right (data provider mistake or whatever), then it might be difficult to reverse the payments as players could withdraw their money immediately. We could actually get rid of this manual confirmation step if we state that the game result as set in our system is subject to errors but cannot be argued about. Note that when I say errors might occur, it is probably around 0.1% of the time but still, the player experiencing it will be (legitimately) angry. You seem to be a seasoned gambler: do you think players would accept such terms i.e. trading game result reliability (0.1% of the time) against fast settlement?

Thanks for your reply. I totally understand what you mean about the settlement and I agree that you need to protect yourselves from such mistakes. To be honest, personally, I would prefer having fast settlements by sacrificing the fact that you have the right to revoke a payment in case of grading mistake, but, as you said, other people might be very angry seeing their payment revoked. So, I am not sure I can advise you on that matter, beyond my personal opinion.

Thanks for taking suggestions into account! Keep up the good work. I really like your website so far.

I placed a couple of bets and I have some initial suggestions.

1) On active bets under "account", display the resolution date, so that we can quickly know when the bet is settled.
2) Display both the value at bet time (which is the amount the user risked) and the value if win, without having to click the "Action" button
3) Display the actual odds at which the bet was placed. Now in order to see that, I need to divide the two values.
4) I still haven't found how I can "cashout" a bet before its resolution time. I think it needs to be somewhere clear.

Edit:
One of the events where I bet finished more than an hour ago, but the bet still hasn't been graded. I take it grading is performed manually rather than automatically? If yes, this is the biggest change you should implement. The MOST important things to bitcoin gamblers are fast deposits/withdrawals, high limits and fast grading of bets so they can re-bet.

Sorry but I don't really understand your concern.

Why have we low margins? To attract bettors.
Is this site a scam? No, otherwise you can be sure people would have raged in the thread.

@DarkStar_

Thank you for your input, it is really appreciated Smiley

The margin is not set in stone and we will probably change it soon.

Taking Man U vs Southampton as an example, it is true that Fairly offers a lower margin at this moment (1.13% according to my calculations) for back odds.
However, BetBtc which is also an exchange offers 2.6% on that game.

It is not always easy to find a fair margin/commission but I can improve that.

For example, I updated the prices and limits of Man U vs Southampton:

|Min Depth|Avg Depth|Max Depth
Back Home|1.597 (0.00010000 BTC)|1.519 (0.07920000 BTC)|1.222 (0.76520000 BTC)
Back Draw|4.352 (0.00010000 BTC)|3.794 (0.04110000 BTC)|3.408 (0.08230000 BTC)
Back Away|6.486 (0.00010000 BTC)|5.676 (0.02410000 BTC)|5.098 (0.04830000 BTC)

|Min Depth|Avg Depth|Max Depth
Lay Home|1.613 (0.00010000 BTC)|1.716 (0.07920000 BTC)|1.953 (0.19810000 BTC)
Lay Draw|4.399 (0.00010000 BTC)|5.887 (0.05650000 BTC)|32.666 (0.11310000 BTC)
Lay Away|6.560 (0.00010000 BTC)|8.877 (0.03620000 BTC)|41.755 (0.07250000 BTC)

What would you say of these odds/liquidity now, compared to other bookmakers?

I used your example from the above post with the back odds for Manchaster United vs Southampton, and found a 2% margin, which is really bad for such a little amount compared to your old system. At Fairlay, probably your biggest competitior, the magin is 0.79%. Granted, your volume is a lot less, but the very high odds is misleading. While the odds are Fairlay are set by the bettors, your perfect 2% margins leads me to think that you set the base odds.

If you input a very high amount, the calculation is not valid in the current implementation, I am aware of that.
The fact that the system accepts it is a bug and it shall be fixed in the next release.

Regarding the actual wage limits of my book, I have answered in my previous message.
The next release of the website will allow lay betting as well which should "mechanically" increase the wage limits.

@DarkStar_

I understand your point of view but the variation of the proposed odds aims at balancing the book, a process that is performed by all bookmakers.
For instance, assume you want to wager 100BTC on France: I doubt Nitrogen would let you do that because it introduces too much of a risk.
Invalid argument. I tried calculating for 100 BTC, but it is too high of an amount on your book. Yes, nitrogen wouldn't let you do that either, but considering how much the odds dropped when I typed in 0.1BTC, if you did accept 100 BTC, it would be @0.982[1] probably, but if it was positive, it would be around @1.02. I could bet 2 BTC on nitrogen, and have the same outcome but less risk.

I also find this funny: , which voids all your arguments regarding the nitrogen comparison. Nitrogen would be able to take 5 BTC wagers (I believe)

The difference between Nitrogen and us is obviously how much we accept as a wage on an outcome before shifting our odds.
In our case, I agree that our limit is much lower.

As per the line "Very high odds", I disagree with you because it is precisely accurate: you do get very high odds if you wager a small amount.
That being said, I will take into account your concern and advertise the actual odds one gets for a particular wage in my next messages.

I really dislike how it is fixed odds on demand, since it results in the actual odds being very different then what you advertise here. This gif shows it all:
http://i.imgur.com/1SKkXJJ.gifv (Too large to display here)

I could take @1.8 on France here for a 0.05BTC wager, but if I went to another competitor, like Nitrogen, I can get @2.088 on France to win. 0.3 units extra/per unit wagered is pretty big. Very high odds is a complete lie. Most people don't bet small amounts like 1 mBTC.

I really like that you can not just bet but actually sell your bets. So your bets become a commodity on their own and create a new market to trade. So you can actually profit without even taking a single bet. I like that very much it gives the better a chance to pull out if they wish or go for it. Nice if you don't want to risk your money and know for fact that selling the bet will yield you a guaranteed profit.

The layout of the site is also very eye catchy nice going.  Wink

All markets have been restored now.

We apologize for the discontinuation of service: things should go smoother from now on. Updates will still occur on a regular basis but they should be transparent for the end-user.
In particular, please let us know if you are logged out unexpectedly i.e. being forced to re-enter your credentials even after checking the "remember me" box.

@joksim299
As far as I know, the cache of your browser is not related to you seeing the maintenance page or not.

@Patatas
The tutorial is minimalist indeed, we will try to improve it.
On the top of my head, I can think of two ways to make it more "interactive":
- either a guided tour showing how to place a bet and selling it if need be
- or a video demonstrating the above procedure

Which one do you think would be best?

Soccer is indeed the only sport opened for now. We deliberately restricted the scope at the beginning in order to be able to test all functions of our system more easily.
Other sports should follow reasonably soon.

@Patatas, @Barcode_
To answer your questions about the concept, it almost works like any other fixed-odds sportsbooks you know.

There is only one key difference.

A regular bookmaker gives you a particular odds for an outcome and that odds will be the same no matter how much you want to bet.

At PrediMarket, in order to get the odds for that outcome, you must first tell the system how much you want to bet. It uses this value to compute the odds you will get for that outcome. By changing the amount you want to bet, you make the odds change until you get an odds you are satisfied with.
Computation of odds are requested with the little calculator button next to the wage input field.

The reason you can sell your bet (until the game begins) is because the system considers your bet as a contract.
This contract is worth something: in the beginning, it is worth the amount you bet but afterwards it will vary if other players place additional bets on the considered market.
Currently, the value of the bet displayed in your bet history is discounted with a commission which varies from market to market. We plan to make this clearer in the user interface asap.

Practically, there are 2 cases when you should consider selling a bet:
- either when you "speculate": your bet value has increased above the amount you placed initially thus, if you sell it, you make a sure profit no matter what happens in the game
- or you changed your mind about a bet: for instance, a major player of the favorite team suddenly got injured and will not play which turns the table and make your bet less likely to be right

What you are telling is the bet for prematch or we can bet on LIVE match in Inplay
Currently, LIVE bets are not supported. We will make them available as soon as possible.

because what you are telling is that you will fix the prematch odd for all matches , and after that who ever bets will change the odds,

What you are giving details is just like trading bets. But it is too complicated and the outcome will be facing too many problems.
Yes, you are right: every new bet changes the odds. And you are also right when you say it is like trading. But if I used trading terminology, I think people would have been even more confused because strictly speaking, we are a sportsbook dealing odds and not a broker dealing prices.
I know it sounds complicated but if you play a bit with the betslip to ask odds for various amounts (no need to make a deposit), it will help you understand.

Best of luck for your new project

Is this an exchange? You use terminology that isn't clear at all.

No it is not an exchange. An exchange is a market place gathering "bidders" and "sellers" or "backers" and "layers" in terms of betting exchange. This kind of mechanism is generally bad because of the lack of liquidity: a bet can only be concluded if a backer and a layer agree on a certain odds which prevents many people to actually make their bet because they fail to come to an agreement with the other party.

At PrediMarket, you bet against the gambling house, hence there is no liquidity problems. Depending on the amount you wish to bet, PrediMarket will offer you different odds.
For example:
- if you want to bet 1 BTC, you get a decimal odds of 3.0
- if you want to bet 0.5 BTC, you get a decimal odds of 3.5
- if you want to bet 0.1 BTC, you get a decimal odds of 4.0
...

"Why is PrediMarket innovative?": "odds you get for an outcome depend on the total wages already placed by other gamblers on that outcome and the amount you want to bet" is literally how every single bookmaker works at the end of the day, this isn't innovative at all.

You are right in the sense that this is how every single bookmaker works macroscopically (in the long-run if you prefer). But none of them does that live while you are completing your betslip. At a regular bookmaker, you are offered a unique odds (say 3.0) for a specific outcome no matter how much you bet. The odds might change only for future gamblers.
PrediMarket offers you much more flexibility: that is why it is truly innovative.

I understand, it is quite unique in that respect indeed. I'll try depositing some and see how it goes.

Does it mean that when there are many of the same bets, the wages decreases? Please do enlighten me.

Consider a game with 2 outcomes which are equally likely to happen. Both (decimal) odds for that outcome are set to 3.0 at the beginning (before any bet is placed).
I picked the following wages just for the sake of simplicity, you can bet any amount you wish.
First player puts 1 BTC on the first outcome at odds 3.0 (he gets 3.0 BTC if he wins).
-> This bet makes the odds for the first outcome decrease and the odds for the other outcome increase: they are now respectively 2.9 and 3.1
Second player comes in and puts 1 BTC on the first outcome at odds 2.9.
-> This bet makes the odds for the first outcome decrease again at 2.8 while the other goes up.
And so on and so forth...
Of course, if the first player bets 2 BTC at the beginning, he will get odds around 2.95 (half way between 3.0 and 2.9).
If some money is placed on the second outcome then the second odds will start going down while the first one will go up: this is the same mechanism.

It works exactly the law of demand in economics: the more people put money on an outcome, the more the odds for that outcome will decrease.

I like how you can actually sell your bet. This basically qualifies as trading as you have invested in a bet and risked either if the bet's value will go up or down.

You are right, this is exactly like trading  Smiley. When you make a bet, you make a contract with PrediMarket to pay you, for example 2 BTC, if your prediction is correct, in exchange of engaging 1 BTC. The value of this contract is 1 BTC, in other words, the amount you chose to bet. Then, if other players bet more money afterwards, the value of your bet (contract) will fluctuate:
the more people put money on the outcome you chose, the more the value of your contract will increase. The opposite happens if people tend to favor the other outcome.
This is because the bet has an intrinsic value that you can sell it at any time.

OP, I'm quite not knowledgeable about how "fixed-odds on-demand" works.

Well, this is just an expression to try to convey the idea that PrediMarket offers fixed-odds (fixed amount paid for a wage) but depending on the amount you want to bet (your demand), you will get different odds as explained above.

Hello everyone,

We have been online for a few months now, always trying to bring something new to the betting industry.

As some of you may know, we have been using a peculiar pricing system which has proven to be very hard to calibrate over the past months.
We have tried many different settings but it is intrinsically difficult to find the correct balance between competitive odds and risk management precisely because of our pricing system.

As a consequence, we announce that we will shut down the website for a temporary period. You are kindly asked to not deposit or place more bets past this Friday. All bets placed from Saturday will be refunded.
You are invited to withdraw your belongings before the end of the week as the website should go offline during Sunday.

E-mails containing this message will be delivered to each of our customer.

We will use this break to rework our system and hopefully bring some new features as well.

Thanks for betting with us and we hope to be back soon.

Best regards,
The PrediMarket Team

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A new version of PrediMarket has just been released!

What's new?
  • You now have access to lay betting, making PrediMarket effectively a betting exchange. Your betting counterpart is always PrediMarket, ready to back or lay any outcome at any time, thus ensuring the liquidity of bets!
  • Betting limits have been substantially increased!
  • Increased range of soccer competitions

Tell us what you think!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PrediMarket, a genuinely innovative Bitcoin Sportsbook for both desktop and mobile.

Why is PrediMarket innovative?

PrediMarket is a Sportsbook Betting Exchange offering a continuous range of fixed-odds.

Thus, you can ask for the odds you like best by adjusting your wage!

Is it like parimutuel then?

NO, IT'S NOT! Parimutuel only gives you variable odds, hence your are not guaranteed to win a fixed amount if you bet correctly.
On the contrary, potential winnings with PrediMarket are guaranteed like regular fixed-odds betting exchange.

Additional features:
  • Instant, 1 confirmation deposit (3 confirmations for large deposits)
  • Instant withdrawals at all times: the deposited bitcoins remain yours until you place them in a bet
  • Minimum deposit: 0.0002 BTC
  • Fixed margin as low as 2% on odds and fixed winnings commission of 2% for back and lay bets meaning very high odds

PrediMarket will be in beta stage until further notice. This means:
  • Fixtures are limited to football (soccer) games for now
  • LIVE betting is disabled for now

In case you have any questions, feel free to post them below or file a request to our Helpdesk.
