Bitcoin FTW!

I'm stilly very much concerned about providing power to the eventual number of units from the limited number of outlets I have access too.

Thanks for the advice!

You should be very worried about that LOL.

quantity of outlets is for the most part irrelevant.  What is important is the # of circuits and the wire size and breaker size protecting those circuits.

Sounds honestly like you have 1 x 15A circuit in the garage.  Which basically means you will max you capacity in terms of amps drawn by 1 x S7 (with a couple hundreds watts headroom).

Don't discount the heat, a room with no airflow will heat up FAST even with just one miner LOL.
This. Mining in my garage, I first opened my windows to help ventilate one S5 as it was getting hot as an oven there. Later I stuck a fan behind mosquito netting to get more air in, and my garage is a comfy 90-100 degrees most days. In the winter it's a nice and toasty place to be, minus noise that will drive you crazy. I remember opening the door once during a snowstorm and it melted most of the snow in front of my driveway, unfortunately it got a little humid and some things got rusty.

Have you considered mining other altcoins or ETH instead? Seems to be more profitable now esp. with the recent surges in ETH value.

That way, if your farm fails, you can always sell GPUs to gamers.
Good suggestion,i would rather thinking up on buying new GPU's than thinking off on buying another asic miners which are more expensive than GPU and also we cannot call it a farm since you do have only 1 s7.. The advantages is you have the place to put a farm for a cheap price a month but one thing bothers me is the temperature its too hot dude and I will surely burned out once it operates thinking off that miners do really need cooling system.

I do appreciate the suggestions on Alt Coins and I will look into it!

But I think I need to clarify something up top. I am not calling a single S7 a "Farm"  it is the Start or prep to set up one. i.e. The fact that I have one for twenty dollars paid for, access to free energy and cheap internet I see as the "prep" itself.

Personally, I'd see the farm at 13 to 20 machines after one to two years.

I'll add this note to the top post.

I keep seeing these posts about the heat rather than the power, I keep seeing people express concern about heat. I'm very appreciative about that. Since I have a single S7 I can eventually get data on how that may affect the environment and extrapolate.

I'm stilly very much concerned about providing power to the eventual number of units from the limited number of outlets I have access too.

Thanks for the advice!

How many miners could you fit in that windowless room?

Could you let the door wide open while the fans are on?

For a neutral pool I would go with this one: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/kanopool-kanois-lowest-09-fee-since-2014-worldwide-2432-blocks-789369

If you have no concern for the power then better fit as many s7 or any machine with good health and operational to earn the most in those 3 free month.

Oh! you were referring to the 3 free months of the ISP! My bad, That perhaps should have been another question about regarding how much data these machines need. as I don't have "Months" as much as I have credit. just at my current rate of the ISP, it would be 3months for 400mbps/100 down

I can't let a door open Unfortunately as the Garage is too remote from my own dwelling.

As for how many miners? hmm...The garage is the smallest one...a Yukon Denali could fit in it...tightly? maybe with less than a foot clearance on each side if that gives an idea.

OK mate, just tell me if there is no window and you can't open the door then how'd you suggest air moves between miners freely?

As I understand the basics, when you have a room without any window the entrance will act as a two way channel for hot air and cool air.

Without constant air conditioning I know your miner(s) will die in a few days. it just wouldn't return anything as profit, if you knew how hot

It will get, even if you turn on your fans they'll keep blowing the heated air around unless you could get some liquid nitrogen coolant system?

Could you afford to fit 4 s7 in there? just let other more experienced and experts comment on this situation.

Correct, there are no Windows it's flanked on two sides by other garages. The AC units I have in storage that was intended for windows are the old style ones that use refrigerant.

I can afford to fit several dozen Miners in there If  I wanted, it is a garage. I had just planned to ramp up over time as I knew I would have to dance the tightrope of power since I only have access to limited outlets.

I'm confident that the heating issue can be solved, It might be a plus to me taking it slow by adding miners slowly a month at a time. Though perhaps one of those Closed State Climatic control units from LG may be of use, they are around $300 and are designed for this environment... They just need Freon every few months.

That's not a farm man one S7 or even 10 of them in 3 months will bring you nothing, I'd suggest you to go with the newest miners one of which is S9 and T1 I think. you need air flow badly without it miners will get heated and probably start fire, cooling is more important than people think.
3 months is a short time for mining, if you really intend to invest on mining then don't be afraid and go wild with as many as the best ASIC you could buy and start mining but don't cut the expenses because whatever you invest you'll earn at least 3 times in 6 months period.

Thanks for the advice! though I admit I'm not really sure I understand, could you ELI5?

No return in three months off a paid for S7 with no power cost? I'm not sure I follow. I've always been under the assumption that power costs impact profit significantly and if you have free power it's very good.

I've been using http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator to plot my projected returns.

I do have an extensive number of fans... I think I have two older windows mounted AC units, the not the fan based ones, the ones with refrigerant, and seven or eight oscillating fans? I think I could keep fairly cold in there even without windows. It was 70 degree's F in there when it was 97 degree's F at noon or is that not something significant to factor?

Oh and forgive me for any misconception I don't intend to mine only for three months, I simply intend that to be my accelerated ramp up period.

Thanks!

EDIT: CLARIFICATION 06/01: There seems to be some misunderstanding below that I am classifying a single used $20 S7 & PSU as a "Farm" rather than the "setup" to said farm. I know that is not the case, these entire post is to get advice on how to capitalize on a series of advantages.

Hello!

So I'm getting ready to set up a new Bitcoin Farm. It's my first time mining and I know I have some advantages.

Unfortunately, to capitalize on these, I can't wade into mining as much as go straight for the deep end.

Advantages

So here is Advantage #1:
I live in an apartment with Garages,(Photos attached) Due to some pro-bono tech support work I did for the complex the Apartment manager has offered me this garage at half price and "Do with it as I please as long as it doesn't explode" So that's $75 a month. I will not pay for power. It is between two other garages and above it is an occupied apartment.

The ambient temperature of the Garage is 70 degrees (f) passive with the door shut in my current climate, with no cooling installed.

This is only if I act on it before someone else does.

Advantage #2:
my Local ISP, seriously screwed up recently to the degree they offered me three months at any time of credit for the internet. I have my own modem and the Telecom cluster for the building is less than 3ft from the Garage door, there is a rubber insulation I could run a cable through and holes in the cluster.

While this won't go away, the proximity to the Garage will only be if I get #1.

Advantage #3: A single used Antminer S7 and a Rosewill 1600 PSU for $20

Garage Sale, I tested them. they appeared to power up, no idea I know the PSU works.

Advice
So I plan to use Slush Pool unless other people have suggestions.

I am planning to invest in more used S7s (One a month up to 8th) hopefully working up to an S9 sometime in October.

The Garage only has two outlets, Clearly, this is going to be an issue of amperage sooner rather than later.

I am hesitant to modify the garage's outlet's due to it not having an accessible breaker box and code violation.

Though there is that light socket, I could screw an adapter in there I believe.

I'd love some suggestions on how to overcome the power issues and any other general ones regarded to the logistics.

I also have a significant number of fans I can use to circulate and cool the air.

My Foolish Conclusion

That my largest obstacle is power to the Miners. I was perhaps thinking a large UPS, routed from the primary outlet then everything else from there. I have no idea if it would work, but would the UPS not be then in a constant state of "Charge" doing its own normal amperage draw from the outlet while providing power to the Miners?

I appreciate any advice you may have!
