-snip-
I think it's more like an act of retaliation, trying to frame Veleor for multi account and ban evasion
he probably will do some more other things to get Veleor into troubles Undecided
as madnessteat said in the previous post, "the war was started against him" (him = Veleor)
Yes, it's just a kind of name spamming. But the scammer would never be able to achieve what he wants, as just spamming similar names would not affect much here I think. As there are many similar cases of name spamming already happening here, but it never works at all.

-snip-
that's true but it's just too coincidence changing his email similar to username that got him banned Roll Eyes
This coincidence make's it a revenge for sure!

nickname Veleor -is not unique login. You think that you "veleor" is a one on the planet. There are a lot of "veleor" nicknames at different services. Any people has the right to register such name.

It's not a bug, as you can see that the trust page of btc-e.nz says "This user's email address was changed recently" which points he has personally changed it to spam @veleor (as per the thinking of scammer) as he has busted his account. It's just a way of him expressing his anger for this event  Cry

Are they still able to spend their merits or this has been solved? There would be a real abuse if banned users can still send merits...
Fixed a long time ago. Actually (IIRC), banned users were never able to send merit. What went wrong is that one of the mods mistakenly temporarily unbanned all accounts.

^For now banned users are able to login and can read the PM's and their post history but not sure they can be able to change their profile data or it might be a bug like what happened when merit system was implemented the banned users are also got merits and able to spend it.

I don’t know Veleor well, but I think the war was started against him, as he is a fighter against abusive accounts. Most recently, messages about his connection with Marina Uni began to appear in the Russian locale: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.49801074

If someone has populated their profile page with personal information and contact details, surely it is their right to be able to remove those details if they no longer want them broadcasted, regardless of whether or not they are banned.

Veleor, do you have a monopoly on that name?

Just in case

Because of what you've done to them they want a revenge on you obviously. At least you did this post to prevent this kind of scheme to other good forum member.

Banned users are still able to use the read-only functions of the forum. This is intentional. Changing their email addresses is a necessary part of being able to secure their accounts.

We can state this as a misuse of the privileges given by the forum to the banned users. I think giving them a chance to login and change the profile details is a very stupid thing at first.

Banned account is warned with the message.
Code:
Sorry xxxxxx , you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.

Which implies they are banned from posting and sending PMs, but they are free to change there profile details. This mostly does not affect other members but there could be possible abuse as stated in the OP.

it might be a bug like what happened when merit system was implemented the banned users are also got merits and able to spend it.

Shouldn't banned users be banned from logging in, and not just banned from posting?

Today I found out that banned users can edit their profiles data.

Recently, in the Russian section I've reported about 17 connected accounts and after that an email address with my nickname has appeared in one of these profiles.
I want to note, this is not my email address.

Account: btc-e.nz

You can learn from bpip.org that profile 'btc-e.nz' was Nuked in January 2019.

Code:
1/8/2019 12:48:01 PM Changed to Archived status Nuke user

I think that users should be prohibited from changing any data in their profiles after they have been banned.
