This is the second time I've seen that link claimed as being the first "This is gentlemen" post, but it's not. That was posted in response to the original typo, here:

http://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMarkets/comments/2lxkqk/daily_discussion_tuesday_november_11_2014/cm0085i

I feel the need to point out, his comment "haha, had just gotten off work and was driving when i typed it. i wrote MACD too instead of EMA. please dont make this a thing =("

I reiterate, I would hate if a typo I made like that lived on like this. Undecided

Nah, he's cool with it. If you look at his comment history:

This Is Gentlemen by Daurgothothin Bitcoin
[–]qwsazxcde1 7 points 1 day ago
ugh, i may as well own up to it. Let the Gentlemen rally begin, Sir's.

And personally, I would be happy to see my typo become a thing. I mean, if you can't laugh at your own silly typo and have a good time, then life's gonna be pretty dreadful.

Bitcoin is really taking off! hit 434 allready. Cant wait to see where this goes.

430$ on Bitstamp at the time of this post and it went to 453$ on Bitstamp and higher on some other exchanges. 290$ was a great entry point considering today's price!

I didn't understand how "the gentleman" is related to any of this Tongue

I believe it hit 490 on the Chinese exchanges when it was hitting 450 on stamp

Wow. I tried searching for it hoping for a "know you meme" entry, and only came up with rap lyrics.

I had no idea it was only a day 12 hours old.

Where did this "This is gentlemen" thing come from?  It has to be some kind of meme seeing as how it's broken English and makes no sense without the word "it" in there.

I was curious about it too... I'm not a fan of bad grammar though... I stand the cute Doge memes, because he's adorable, but this gentleman saying is a bid odd.  Undecided

It was coined in the reddit forum by someone watching btc prices while driving his car
And he mistyped it that way when he saw this spike starting and since then onwards its been cigars and bathrobes and monocles and heading for champagne  and Lamborghinis and private jets and shit Smiley

I would be so embarrassed to have a typo of mine end up in infamy like this.

Because you don't know how to HODLING

This is indubitably gentleman

Does anyone know what caused the 15-20% increase in price? Any big new related to bitcoin in the world?

No big news has affected price for a long time.

Most of the time when price was pumped people linked it to some sort of news so that they could try to find rational reasons for the outcome (just how our brains are programmed, we often seek patterns and find patterns that aren't really there)
Well it is difficult to get money into exchanges quickly if you wish to buy large amounts of bitcoin at once, however it is easy to sell your bitcoin on an exchange once you already own it.

As a result any good news will generally have a delayed reaction while bad news will likely see a quick reaction.

I would say that the recent run up is in reaction to SR2 closing down as it gives bitcoin some level of additional credibility

I'm holding. Glad I replenished some BTC I spent at Purse last week, last night at $369. :-)

I hope folks pull their sell orders unless they really need the fiat; reducing any sell walls out there will help BTC skyrocket and they can sell at their leisure at a much higher future price. BTC should get some good coverage in the media out of this going into the holidays, good timing.

This broke late in the rally, but IMO could be nodal in driving confidence that BTC is "the one" over the next few weeks.

after the 266 top, price was floating along for awhile, it looked utterly hopeless at some point, that was where the new rally started

with negative interest rates discussed amongst EU banks, anything is possible - large cash withdrawals are not allowed - BTC is one escape route - everyday older people die and younger people learn about BTC

Only a matter of time IMHO. Smiley

I would expect a correction soon. The jump is too big, too quick.

It isn't
If anything its too small, too slow

If the etf is coming in the next 6 weeks this might be as cheap as it ever gets to buy a coin again

After that the block Reward halves so I can only see it going high with a few slumps on the way upwards
