I've also looked deeper into the closed-source fears I had before and I found out that you can compile the Ledger software yourself and since they're open-source and you do everything by yourself, you can be assured there is no information is leaked to Ledger's servers. You could use ledgerctl instead of Live if you want full control over pretty much everything.

You could try running this over Tor, but I think even ledgerctl itself is a quite advanced setup. The main issue I used to see is that even if you wanted to use Electrum, in order to use crypto apps with Ledger you had to run it through Live first and I do not like trusting Live with my already-initialized Ledger device. Ledgerctl solves this issue.

You can connect your ledger nano x wallet with full node if you follow this GUIDE from ledger website.

Since OP explicitly mention about privacy and TOR usage, it's not good idea since Ledger is known for blocking Tor due to technical problem. I don't know if the wallet functionally works if you use your own full node.

You can also use Electrum and your own Electrum personal server.

I also recommend this. Just make sure Electrum only connected only to your server before you connect Electrum with your hardware wallet.

Thank you all ! Grateful to hear your feedback! I'll try the Electrum setup to the nano X once my Raspiblitz is here. Will let you know how it goes! Cheesy

Is it possible to connect that to nano X to stop leaking data about my funds to ledger or any other third party?

You can connect your ledger nano x wallet with full node if you follow this GUIDE from ledger website.

Enable Experimental features in LedgerLive settings and then scroll down until you find Connect Bitcoin full node, and then click connect, but please note that this is experimental feature in ledger.

You can also use Electrum and your own Electrum personal server.

Hi,

I have a ledger nano x and I want to go one step further in privacy. I am looking into setting a raspiblitz with TOR to run my own node for transactions.
Is it possible to connect that to nano X to stop leaking data about my funds to ledger or any other third party?
What is the most private way to do that ? Any tutorials are appreciated Cheesy. I am learning this on the go.
