"sweep" is basically the same as a normal transfer... both create a "standard" transaction that send bitcoins from one address to another.

"sweep" was effectively just a "shortcut" method that allowed you to bypass importing the keys first... you could enter the private key directly into the "sweep" dialog. It also automatically sends all the coins (doesn't create any change).

The downside to sweeping, is that you can't choose your fee... I think it just sends with the recommended fee (which could cost a LOT at the moment).

Also, if you're going to see your coins, probably don't bother sending from Electrum to Electrum... send them from Electrum to where you're going to sell them. Wink

Thank you for the reply,

And im not talking about that large amount is rougly 160 dollar, so my best bet would be:

Wait till fees are lower then transfer BTC from electrum to another electrum wallet using sweep or normal transfer? and then sell them.
When i transfered the bitcoins i can use the private key to get the BCH into electronCash then transfer to another wallet in electronCash and then sell.
Is this correct?

And people say that privatekeys should remain private but when i transfer to another wallet dont it need to go broadcasted?

You can still get the BCH by using private key in ElectronCash... Just make sure you get the official ElectronCash (there are a number of fakes)... https://electroncash.org/#download

Sending to a new Electrum wallet at the moment is going to be VERY expensive... Fees are 800+ sats/byte Undecided

Normally, I would recommend it, but unless you're talking about a very large amount of BTC, you're going to lose a lot in fees if you try and send now. Undecided

Hello guys,

i had a wallet in MultiBit Classic, using export key method without password i added it to electrum and btc shows up.
Should i make a new electrum wallet and send the BTC to that one or can i sell it directly
and still get the BCH from the private key using ElectronCash?

Thanks in advance
